Books on Job and suffering. Books on Ester and faith. Books on all kinds of things. So books lead to homosexuality?

I was just using that as an example but yes i read a book many years ago about how Jesus himself was a homosexual that is why i quit reading the dam nasty things.

But you already knew that i did not mean that just any book was why the dam homo,s was taking advantage of the church to spread their sick agenda.

Did i hit a soft spot there somewhere?

I read it correctly, but it was my feeble attempt at a peace offering! ; )

Well you don’t have to get mad. I just don’t think that because in the vast array of books, you have to throw them all out. Some are good, some are really really stupid. But that counts for all ideas rattling around in peoples heads.

Your veiled homo accusation is humorous so I choose to take it that way.

Thank you. I appreciate that. It’s how I feel in my heart. For a while I volunteered at the local Christian Homeless Mission. I guess certain FReepers would have been appalled by the appearance of some of those people at church. You know - they just didn’t “measure up”. I know that Jesus welcomed their presence no matter the attire. I’ll pattern myself after Jesus rather than judgmental people any day.

Forgot to add in my last post:

While I use Jesus as my model - I fall short frequently!!! That's why I keep plugged in and keep going back to church.

Pual does mention a woman Deacon in Romans ch 16 v 1. Phoebe does seem to be much more involved in the actual ministry than Priscilla and Aquila whom in the next couple of verse Paul calls co-workers in his ministry. In general I think men should be the pastor in the church. In smaller churches especially some women have the best ability {Gift} to be music director. However I would not totally exclude women from the ministry even as far as preaching The Gospel especially as Evangelist or missionaries nor for that matter women's who fruits of their labor in their ministry have been GOD called to such.

Case in point Joni Ericson Tada's ministry to the disabled. A very remarkable spirit filled woman who minister to those who have suffered suffered severe disability.

As for attire for church? A person can make a case either way. Who should churches be ministering too? Christ ministered to those the leaders of the Temples and others called outcast because of their economic or health situation.

While I can see it being disrespectfull to walk in every Sunday looking like a drag queen, street walker, cross dresser, Butch, etc I see no disrespect in coming to church in your everyday clothing as long as it isn't a distraction. I have no issue with a woman wearing slacks to church. I have no issue with men who don't wear a suit and tie. Personally I'd wear clean coveralls & my work boots if I wore anything.

I respect The House of The Lord. I also respected, loved, and honored my dad till his last breath on earth. As much love and respect I had I wore coveralls to his funeral and boots. Shoes for me cost in excess of $100 and my prescription insoles have to be inside them. I own one pair of shoes and for ankle support I only wear what most persons call work boots. The old lace ups. I can not tolerate anything near my neck. I either wear bib overalls with a shirt unbuttoned two buttons down or a light pair of coveralls.

My wife? Every place we go she wears sweat pants and a tee shirt. She still looks very much a woman. I'd be the one beside her with a full beard and hair down to my shoulders. She's cute I'm not LOL. Necessity dictates what she can wear.

Our preacher wanted women to wear dresses. For that reason my wife never felt comfortable again in the church although he did understand necessity because she was wearing a night gown when he married us.

The Lord doesn't focus on our outside. His focus is on our hearts inside.

**but no-one seems to want to talk about the path to Salvation.**

I will, and gladly!

After hearing Peter preach his first sermon about Jesus Christ, the hearers “were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethern, what shall we do?” Acts 2:37

vs 38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

You are overall protesting what has not been made an issue.

Born-again men and women are both heirs of the grace of life, (1 Peter 3:7) and the church is to harmoniously pray and worship together, (Act 2:14; 4:24) and both will be rewarded according to their own labor. (1Cor. 3:8). Men and women are both given certain spiritual gifts (1Cor. 12), and women can lead women in singing. (Exo. 15:20), and may share what God has revealed, but only in a manner and context which clearly signifies her submission to the male. (see Acts 21:9; 18:24-26; 1Cor. 11:4,5) They can publicly tell others about Christ, (Lk. 2:36-38; Jn. 4:28,29), and support those who work in ministry, (Lk. 8:3; Phil. 4:3). can even help to personally disciple a man, such as in a home, with and under their husband or father. (Acts 18:24-26) Mature Godly women can teach other women, (Titus 2:3-5), and women can also work hard in secular business, (Prov. 31; Acts 16:14) with all propriety, but are never to have authority or rule over men (1Cor. 14:34,35; 1Tim. 2:11-15) except perhaps in instances of extraordinary necessity (Judges 4:1-5).

However, today submission is seen as an unclean thing, yet just as in the Godhead, so in the church and home God has established and upheld positional/functional distinctions between males and females from the beginning:More.

Oh oh, do i detect a little hint of a judgmental attitude here?

At any rate a homeless mission would be a horse of a different color.

Nope - that's called discernment! Look up the difference!

Yes, i can agree with that but there are so much conffussion regarding the scriptures.

No one would be right to judge a homeless man or woman for showing up in rags or topless for that matter but the modest dress scripture was not written for those, it was written to the Church members, the Church members are the servants of the Church.

To: daniel1212; All

Having worked many years in the personnel field, I can tell you the young ladies today do not have any concept of “modesty”.

My best example happened in my church. The church didn’t supply robes for their choir, and I was forced to witness a very embarrassing display. One of the choir members (who was very generously endowed), did not wear a bra. To add to the spectacle, she was wearing a satin blouse. Anybody with an ounce of intelligence can figure out what happened.

The saddest part was the two young men who were sitting a short way down the pew from me. They giggled and tee-hee’d through the whole church program because they were so distracted by her movements. Obviously, they were not able to recieve anything from the service .. which should cause a lot of people to be concerned .. what if this service was where they would accept the invitation to receive Christ ..?? What if this was the final opportunity for one or both of them to ask God for forgiveness for some past act of sinfulness ..??

This was why I went to the Choir director and complained very loudly .. either supply robes to keep the distraction to a minimum, or require all members (especially females) to wear a suit type of jacket. It took the church a few services, but they finally required the jackets.

I took my grandchild aside over the same reason (but not the same service); she was wearing a braless tank top to church. What you wear around home doesn’t matter to me .. but when you step out in public, you should have more respect for yourself than to look like a prostitute on a stroll; unless of course, that is your goal.

And which the libertarians would say is the man's problem.

Under Fed health care, that could eventually potentially bring investigation for fostering an unhealthy environment. Reeducation you.
