Pray For Our American Heroes, Our Athletes and Our Nation

In honor of George Washington’s birthday - February 22, 1732
George Washington was 43 when commissioned as General of the Continental Army.

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray.
Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church
to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;
the Lord will raise them up.
If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
Therefore confess your sins to each other
and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Elijah was a human being, even as we are.
He prayed earnestly that it would not rain,
and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain,
and the earth produced its crops.

Heavenly Father –

We are grateful for the many godly leaders You rose up to serve our nation – especially during the dark days when the light of liberty was dying out. We are grateful for George Washington, who put his trust in You, and never gave up when the Glorious Cause of America seemed to evaporate.

We ask for Your tender mercies and forgiveness for our national sins as well as our secret sins. May our eyes be open to see the darkness of the false hopes and machinations of the godless. May we intercede to change the course of America, a nation that trusts and loves You.

In our day, we pray for repentance and a revival of all Your people in our land. Protect our athletes as well as our citizens that represent us abroad. Likewise, protect our heroes, home and abroad, who put themselves in harm’s way to serve others. Bless all your sons and daughters in Your special care,

Lord our Father, I pray for your hedge of protection to be around our soldiers fighting terrorism around the world. We have leaders who would rather see our fighting men and women die than see them succeed. We have evil leaders who have no fear of You, they have no respect for You, and they join in daily to attack Your children. However Lord, even though you lifted your hedge from Job, you would not allow his life to be taken. It's that hedge I pray will be around our soldiers.

Lord I also pray for You to bless the athletes in Sochi so that they may be at their very best physically and mentally as they compete for the medal they trained their whole life to achieve.

I also pray that you would bless all my fellow FReepers with the same hedge of protection while calming any angry spirit that may overcome them as they converse about the events happening around the world today.
