I have friends that live in that area from when I went to Bluefield State college, WV.
They used to tell me if God was going to give the world an enima,
Grundy would be the place to start, this is from the people who live in the area.
God rest these poor souls.

Six People Shot At Virginia Law School
Three People Confirmed Dead
POSTED: 2:27 p.m. EST January 16, 2002
UPDATED: 2:50 p.m. EST January 16, 2002
GRUNDY, Va. -- Police say as many as six people have been shot at the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia near the Kentucky-Virginia border.
Three people were killed and three wounded in a shooting spree Wednesday at the school in Virginia, officials said.
Three students were taken to the hospital.
Newsman Tony Turner of WYMT-TV in Hazard said he interviewed a student who told him a foreign exchange student opened fire on a professor and others because he was upset over grades that were posted.
Among the dead was Anthony Sutton, dean of the school established in 1997, said Ellen Qualls, spokeswoman for Gov. Mark Warner, a former member of the school's board. Also killed were a student and another member of the faculty, she said.
Warner's spokeswoman said the weapon was a .380 semiautomatic handgun.
State police believe students apprehended the shooter, who is now in custody, Qualls said.
The Buchanan County law school opened five years ago in a renovated junior high school. About 170 students attend the school.
The school has about 15 faculty members, including alumni of law schools at the University of California at Berkeley and Columbia, Harvard and Howard universities.

"A gunman killed three people and wounded three others during a shooting spree Wednesday at the Appalachian School of Law, officials said."What is with that word, gunman? If a knife had been used, would they call him a knifeman or cutleryman? How about a baseballbatman if a Louisville Slugger is used? I've never seen a hit-and-run perpetrator called a carman or suvman. For diversity, do we call a female shooter a gunwoman?

revolver doesn't sound scary, semi-automatic handgun is the preferred media word.

Lighten up. Any decent joke is going to offend somebody. I wouldn't tell a joke about drunks to a reformed alcoholic either, but that doesn't mean it's not funny.

According to a witness, Chase Goodman, the students tackled the gunman. The gunman was a large person. The witness said that the gunman had a bad attitude and is mad at everyone. He left campus during lunch and came back with a gun. The nationality of the gunman is not being reported. One girl was shot in the neck.
