Lord Help Us, Palin Is Running For President (Their fear is justifiable)

Some nice reporting from Shushannah Walshe:

If Palin has made any final, official decision to run, she’s kept it from her inner circle of advisers; no doubt she’s mulling her next move with her closest confidant, her husband Todd. But lately, alongside the personal tweets that have been a primary means of communicating with the outside world in recent months, Team Palin has begun issuing press releases. The smoke signals indicate her staff has begun working in earnest on a White House run. “No one has been told directly, but staffers are working under the assumption that she’s running," says one former aide who has knowledge of the inner workings of the PAC, who requested anonymity talking about his ex-boss’ plans. "It has become very apparent to everyone on her staff that she is preparing to run for president. The staff is now working. They are writing speeches, preparing talking points, picking congressmen to endorse all under the umbrella of what you would do two years out before running for president and that’s their understanding. It’s a 2012 ball game, and they should plan on that basis.” Powerline's Paul Mirengoff calls her the front runner. David Frum agrees. So do I.

The Obama administration thinks this is good news, because Palin is supposedly "unelectable." But here's the thing: nobody is "unelectable." It all depends on conditions and events, mainly the state of the economy. To be sure, Palin is almost certainly less electable than many other Republicans, and it would take very bad economic conditions for her to win. But we may have very bad economic conditions.

She'd beat Mr. Obama if the election were today, much less after he's screwed the pooch for two more years. Yet I don't think she'll face Mr. Obama, but rather Secretary Clinton. If that's the case, blacks will stay home in droves and the female vote will not go as heavily for the Democrats as it normally would, making it even easier for Gov. Palin. What do you think?

Strategically she scored by endorsing Ayotte in NH in anticipation of the primary. Especially since Ayotte won.
Now she does have the NH GOP with her.

Palin’s strategery paid off.

If anyone should have been “unelectable” it was the Bill Ayers Manchurian Candidate who was not qualified to be dog catcher.

On the other hand, Sarah Palin would be a better POTUS than any Democrat and many Republicans.

I am not 100% onboard with her for 2012 but there’s no one among the likely candidates who can rival her at this point.

You might be right, especially about the part where 0bama isn’t the Dem candidate. As I see it, he simply won’t be able to run again without documentation. Clinton is already making moves.

Where is Captain Obvious when we need him?

Her path has always been clear. The right steps have been taken, and are paying dividends.

Sarah Palin will run for President. She will blow through the primaries like a tornado, and she will be the Republican nominee.

The only question in my mind is, who will be her opponent in the General Election.

Exactly what policy or personality trait of Sarah Palin is worth fearing?

She’s not “qualified” but Obama was a God-send?

The thing I really value about Palin is that she has the largest amount of political capital than any politician in the last 15 years. She has been VERY Discerning about how she uses it. This shows self control and wisdom. 2 qualities that are rare for any politician. She also the most vicious media attacks against herself and her family. These are all character tests, and she has successfully made it through. The media left nothing else to report.

The media has actually done all of us a favor. They have thrown her in the fiery furnace and she not burned. Which shows she can handle the pressures of office, unlike obama who is on vacation constantly because he cant handle the pressure of the office.

Thats why,for all the hand wringing around here, she endorsed McCain. Its all part of building a base, something she knew would be difficult in the RINO laden party.
I may disapprove of McCain, she may as well, but it was the smart move.

Yes, how frightening. It’s CERTAINLY preferable to have an American hating, Marxist, would-be DICTATOR doing his best top destroy the nation and trample on the liberty of the American people in the office!!!

Blacks will turn out for Hillary - not like they did for zero, of course, but they’ll be tauight to hate Palin enough to get a decent turnout. They’re easily led, and when you have a voting bloc whose vote can be purchased with a 28 oz. can of cold Colt .45 and a pack of Kools, it’s a number to be reckoned with.

I don’t know about the women’s vote. The feminazis are going to vote rat no matter what. They’ll turn out strongly for Hillary. As for the non-feminazis, frankly, a lot of women are just plain stupid when it comes to politics, especially single women. And single women with kids are a reliable nanny-state vote because the state is their surrogate “man of the family.”

I also think the novelty of electing a female went out the door with the novelty of electing a black. I don’t think voters are going to be in an experimental mood by the time we get to ‘12. That may work in Sarah’s favor because her positions are closer to a traditional red-blooded American male’s than they are to the typical nanny-state weak sister so many American women are. But I don’t think gender is going to do either Hillary or Sarah any good in ‘12.

I do tend to agree with you that zero won’t be running. Right now, even Hillary looks better than he does. Hillary will run on Bill and would be much more likely to beat Sarah than zero would.

As I see it, he simply won’t be able to run again without documentation.

He did it once, he can do it again. Short of a 2/3rds majority in the senate with the gumption to impeach, the Kenyan isn't going anywhere until January 2013.
