Maureen Dowd: Slouching Toward Washington (Wherein she attacks O'Donnell, Palin, Tea Party)
The New York Times ^ | September 25, 2010 | Maureen Dowd

Posted on 09/25/2010 3:01:58 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Holy Roddy McDowall.

Christine O’Donnell doesn’t understand why monkeys can’t turn into people right before her eyes.

Bill Maher continued his video torment of O’Donnell by releasing another old clip of her on his HBO show on Friday night, this time showing one in which she argued that “Evolution is a myth.”

Maher shot back, “Have you ever looked at a monkey?” To which O’Donnell rebutted, “Why aren’t monkeys still evolving into humans?”

The comedian has a soft spot for the sweet-faced Republican Senate candidate from Delaware, but as he told me on Friday, it’s “powerful stupid to think primate evolution could happen fast enough to observe it. That’s bacteria.

“I find it so much more damaging than the witch stuff because she could be in a position to make decisions about scientific issues, like global warming and stem cells, and she thinks primate evolution can happen in a week and mice have human brains.”

In the Republican primary, O’Donnell beat Congressman Mike Castle, who had the temerity to support stem-cell research and acknowledge global warming. O’Donnell’s numbers are dropping, while Castle is still beating the Democratic candidate, Chris Coons, by almost 20 points in a theoretical matchup.

In 2007, O’Donnell frantically warned Bill O’Reilly, “American scientific companies are crossbreeding humans and animals and coming up with mice with fully functioning human brains.”

The field of human-animal experiments is dubbed “chimera” research, named for the she-monster in Greek mythology that has a lion’s head, a goat’s body and a serpent’s tail.

Dr. Irving Weissman, director of Stanford’s Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, did the first experiments injecting human brain-forming stem cells into the brains of immune-deficient mice 10 years ago...

“Christine O’Donnell doesn’t understand why monkeys can’t turn into people right before her eyes”

And you don’t understand how they can turn into people over a long period of time. You can’t understand it, because nobody can.

It’s never been described rationally.

That's pretty lame, but I'd still vote for her if I lived in Delaware.

In 2007, O’Donnell frantically warned Bill O’Reilly, “American scientific companies are crossbreeding humans and animals and coming up with mice with fully functioning human brains.”

I hope Dowd is making this up.

In proclaiming O’Donnell to be “stupid,” these people are inevitably bringing themselves closer to that realm known as foolishness.

Because the evolutionists ultimately have no rational basis. Dowd and Maher are standing on faith—faith in biologists.

I don’t care what her views are on evolution, and I don’t think DE voters will care either.

Who is the socialist, Coons or O’Donnell?

Who will work to free us from the chains of ReidPelosiObama socialism, Coons or O’Donnell.

All the rest is irrelevant.

And there was nothing in O’Donnell’s answer about in front of her eyes.

You would think that they’d find 100 missing links by now, right? Darwin was 19th century, right? And every tiny little variation should’ve been documented by now right?

I’m not an expert on this, but I would think that they’d be able to show each any every chromosomal quirk, mutation which caused an old monkey to turn into a new human. Each step, a fossil.

Um, no. If it’s being made up, it isn’t Dowd who made it up. I heard it before.

And, yeah, it’s a little less than good.

However, if that allows her to talk about GMO intelligently, it’s not quite as bad. But, yeah, I’m hesitant to use the word “bad” near Christine, but...

The Democrat tv stations cannot help themselves. They just cannot. I knew this stuff was out there and knew they would ignore everything else but Christine. It’s just too much fun for them. They think everyone agrees with them. It’s Palin II.

Is this true?

“O’Donnell’s numbers are dropping, while Castle is still beating the Democratic candidate, Chris Coons, by almost 20 points in a theoretical matchup.”

Whether it’s true or not, anyone who says that there’s no difference between Coons and Castle is too ignorant to vote.

I think she means that Obam0 is so far left that he has allowed the pendulum to swing widely in the other direction.

By the way, she brushes off the possibility of mice having human children as more evidence of O’Donnell’s stupidity. That is an unnerving idea, and O’Donnell was right.

Liberals think they’re so smart...but don’t notice that their idea of Darwinism contains circular logic.....

turns a verb into a noun and makes “evolution” into a god, ie an omniscient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent force......

plus...they can’t explain the contradiction between believing in “love” and collectivist belief that we are “human beings” who have RIGHTS and are “ONE”, against the Darwinistic belief of survival of the fittest, ie people as homo sapien individuals whose purpose in life is to survive and mate to pass on personal genes.....

“Humanity” is a concept........concepts are mental and not physical......

Nor are there any “rights” in the physical/material world.....rights are conceptual as well......

So why do liberals believe that “rights” exist but not Gods or things beyond the physcial senses...

These people also talk about REASON as if reason were not a limited mental faculty.......

Any quick review of the matter on the net reveals that Weissman isn't the only researcher in the business.

He might well review what he said in 2005 and 2008 ~ interesting stuff fur shur ~ not quite in synch with what he told Maureen.

Frankly, many people suspect that maureen's brain was replaced with a mouse brain quite some time ago. The fact she didn't fully research the subject may well be evidence of that suspicion being correct.

All due respect. I don’t think she means
that. I think Dowd means that 0bama should
have done more to reign people like O’Donnell
in. Like using the Fairness Doctrine. Like
stopping free and fair elections.

Because the point on the Left is not who’s
the best, but who is “correct.” She and
O know right and wrong, moral and immoral,
and it would be a shame, in their eyes, if
the masses followed O’Donnell back to the
days of the Spanish Inquisition.

So in light of where O’Donnell’s ilk is supposedly
taking us, their totalitarianism is justified.
