Palin Plays Hard to Get ("She's not playing by our rules!")
Time Magazine ^ | May 29, 2011 | Jay Newton-Smell

Almost any politician in America follows tried and true patterns when dealing with the media. They alert the media of an upcoming event, the media shows up, photos are taken, cameras roll. Sometimes questions follow. And then the media goes home. But not Sarah Palin.

Palin alerted the media of the first stop on her northeastern road trip: Rolling Thunder. But after some event organizers expressed displeasure at her attendance on Friday, her staff refused to comment about the appearance, and some reporters wondered if she’d even go. No time was given – the event lasted from 7am to 5pm. No venue was given – Rolling Thunder’s course goes for more than five miles from Arlington cemetery around the National Mall. The annual charity for prisoners of war and missing in action draws a quarter of a million bikes and an estimated 900,000 participants – good luck finding the Palin family.

Amazingly, some media did (bravo, AP’s Phil Elliott), though the former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee mostly refused to answer questions. She signed jackets and hats, shook hands and admired tattoos. She rode on the back of her middle daughter, Willow’s Harley. Husband Todd rode with their youngest daughter Piper and their eldest daughter Bristol rode separately, according to media reports. Palin had “rolling justice” written in smeared ink on one hand and a George W. Bush sticker on her bike reading, “Miss me?” “There’s no better way to see D.C. than on the back of a Harley! My family may be used to snowmachines more so than motorcycles,” Palin wrote on her political action committee’s website. “But whether you’re riding the open road or the frozen tundra, you’re celebrating a free spirit. What could be more American than that?”(continued)

RE :"How long do you want to play troll? :) "

Am I wrong? A number of freepers have agreed with me, others disagree. Are you saying this bus tour is a real presidential run?

RE :"Your logic makes no sense....if Sarah is so called playing games and “pull the rug out” with supporters and many people for attention and is not running after all the new news that came out the past 5 days that indicates a serious look into running then whatever support or potential support she has in the far future would collapse and diminish in anger and disappointed people"

Some freepers have posted that, I am not so sure that will/would happen, if I had to make a guess it would be that she endorses and supports MB, but that is hard to guess at this point.

Well, when the first date played out more like “Born Innocent”, with the gov as Linda Blair...is anybody surprised that she wants to play hard to get with the gang?

RE :”Of course you’re wrong(about this being her presidential run). Just look at who’s agreeing with ya

Then think of how foolish I will look when she announces.

I did just see this a few minutes ago:
””This isn't a campaign bus, this is a bus to be able to express to America how much we appreciate our foundation,” Palin said after heading toward the bus carrying her family to famous historical sites on their summer vacation
Palin Swings By National Archives As Presidential Plans Remain Mystery

Sounds about right.

I like your confidence and honesty. You strike me as very sincere.

So she is definitely saying this bus tour is NOT her presidential campaign, not that it proves what she will or will not do in the future.

I never assume that it was her official campaign or even close to it since she isn’t making any stump-like speeches and she isn’t telling us or the media where she is going next to build up anticipation and crowds....she wants people to celebrate out nation foundations and follow along with her and it’s the media that’s acting like the fools chasing her down

“News flash: She doesn’t run the mainstream press. No matter where she goes she’ll be the center of the press’ eye.”

News flash: I agree, it wasn’t Palin’s fault, but it doesn’t mark a messaging success.

She did notify the press in advance, and named it as the start of the tour.

“You also made one about her son’s wedding. Don’t act like you don’t know. “

I said I thought the bride and groom looked older than their youthful ages, and was interested in discussing Palin’s choice of an entertainment tabloid to give the exclusive. There’s no snark there. I’ve also reiterated my hope that Palin would slow her speech patterns and take more breaths.

I’m sure for the crowd that doesn’t want to hear anything but glowing raves uttered about Sarah, my comments are an outrage... but I voted for her once as VP, and I’m looking forward to her announcing her candidacy.

“CSPAN coverage was probably pulled because they did not want to cover Gov Palin, there was no reason for the in and out coverage that was impossible to catch on CSPAN.”

Thank you. I agree.

Log back on to FR today and see you are still digging furiously.

Pathetic.

We have different opinions. Both are pro Palin.

If mine are being challenged and mischaracterized, I’m happy to dig in.

“..and if she liked you, you know the end of the night would be between the both of you...

Most guys would have fallen hard for her...”

And if it didn’t work out, and she kicked you in the head, you would be grateful.

I believe Rolling Thunder got more coverage than it would have and I believe more people now know about RT.

The Palin visit was a success.
