Ted Cruz talks to Democratic protesters on a Fort Worth street corner

FORT WORTH — Leah Payne headed downtown Monday, hoping to send a message to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.

She and about a dozen others gathered outside the hotel where he was scheduled to speak, carrying signs that protested the potential confirmation of Betsy DeVos to lead the Department of Education and noted that “Fort Worth Democratic women won’t back down.”

Payne didn’t know if Cruz would see them, but she hoped the protest sent a message to someone.

Cruz got the message.

And even though he was in a hurry to catch a plane back to Washington, D.C., he walked over to the protesters, shook each person’s hand, listened to their concerns — and posed for pictures with the group.

“He thanked us for being out here and for caring and making our voices heard,” Payne, president of the Tarrant County Democratic Womans Club, said after Cruz left. “I was very surprised. I thanked him for coming out to talk to us.”

But she and others don’t think they swayed his vote, especially since he told them that DeVos is a friend and he supports school choice.

“He listened, but I don’t think he will change his mind,” said Betsy Barbre, a 57-year-old Fort Worth woman who was part of the protest....

I know there are some FReepers who are still angry at Cruz over his presidential run. But honestly, I've never seen such an intelligent, whip-smart conservative Republican who can break an opponent like an egg and simply destroy an argument. You'd have to go back to the early 20th century to find such a Republican, maybe Goldwater or even Robert Taft.

I mean, Cruz just gets it. Any FReepers still pissed and want to primary him in 2018 are smoking crack. You are not going to get a better, clear-cut Republican in that seat than Cruz.

Agreed.

These liberals are shocked because. 1. He’s not afraid to engage in conversation. 2. He’s kind and respectful.

Well they’re fools if they aren’t glad to see Cruz helping Trump.

Maybe they can start a club with the NeverTrump purists who will now be hanging their one-time hero Cruz in effigy because he is helping Trump.

You notice Ted quite often these days. His grand-standing can’t be missed.

Sadly, those that are suckering for it can’t remember last year when we heard almost nothing out of him the last 100 days before the election.

Compare the two periods, and you realize just how little Ted cared about preventing Hillary Clinton from being elected president.

I’ve asked this question before. I’ve not gotten and answer yet.

Just how much grand-standing would Ted be doing right now if Hillary had been elected?

Now, back to your adulation for Ted.

He’s such a great Conservative. No one better...

LOL

Really folks..

If you're a Republican politician that "reaches out" to Liberals that ABSOLUTELY HATE YOU in the name of politeness, you might be a

CUCKSERVATIVE.

If you're a "Conservative" that praises Republican politicians that do such a thing, YOU might be a Cuckservative, too.

And by "might be a Cuckservative" that means you are definitely 100% cucked!

It's encouraging to see that you've finally decided to live in the real world. Good on you.

Mase, answer this question for yourself.

Did we see or hear big things from Ted from January 1st until the 20th? No. Strangely we didn’t.

Did we hear big things out of Ted after Trump got the delegates needed to win the nomination until the election last year? No. Strangely we didn’t.

Now, when Trump is the president and Ted needs to burnish his own rep, you suddenly see him everywhere.

The guy who was a ghost, is now suddenly the loudest mouth around. Why he’s chiming in to say, me too for so many things. He’s suddenly heard in the Senate again. He’s on television humping good policy. Why he’s even on street corners challenging the public in public.

Where was this guy when the nation was on the line?

Hillary Clinton represented a tripling down on Obama’s policies. She corrupted the FBI, the CIA, and our justice system. She was selling her services on the global stage, and bilking tens of billions of dollars out of her own private charity fund. She was corruption personified. She was going to destroy our military and send us deep into a Leftist nuclear winter this nation would not have risen from. She would have spent us over the edge. I could go on. You know I’m right. I’m sure you could add to this.

Notice this big tough big-mouth Ted Cruz right now. Where was the big man last year when the nation was on the line?

Was he championing the opponent over Clinton? Was he heralding Trump’s great platform and plans to revamp this nation? Was he shouting it from the Senate floor? Was he on CNN doing it? Was he on the street doing it?

With this nation on the line, the guy that is an expert at self-promotion, was nowhere to be found.

Like an aging Turtle, he popped his head out on September 23rd, and November 5th last year. That was it. On November 5th, just three days before the election, he couldn’t even muster the courage to say “Donald Trump” at his first of three stops on the day.

That was the extent of Ted’s dedication to this nation turning back toward Ronald Reagan over Hillary Clinton.

That’s realty.

It’s discouraging to see folks so politically naive as not to grasp this.

Ted Cruz is in it for Ted Cruz. He’s not in it for you. He’s not in it for the nation.

F him.
