Here is a Reagan speech on God and religion. Perhaps someone can tell us how many times Reagan mentioned JC in this speech?

The first lady in line was using a cane, bless her heart, she must have waited so long. So many people are crying, bringing their young children and babies. Many are dressed up, but I can't blame those who are not, it must have been a long hot line.

It is so inspiring to watch the public go through. I wish I could be there!

These people privledged enough to be in attendance are truly blessed. Judging by the emotion exhibited I believe they realise this as well.

"As far as I am aware, the parallels stop with the drunkard father."

I turned him off at that point, too. It was too much of a spin to keep my stomach under me.

The dems always talk about how they represent the group that "looks like America",well we're watching them now honoring one of our greatest Presidents.

Exqueeze me for being a proud papa, ya know?

Sheesh!

Why would the ministers mention Jesus Christ when Ronald Reagan never mentioned him?

Reagan, also, was sensitive to the fact that he was president to all Americans, not just Christian Americans.

Referring to "God" when praying seemed to work for Abraham and Moses.

All I heard for years every time Reagan's name came up was, "Iran-Contra."

Chales Krauthammer had the money quote on Brit Hume last night, talking about how discussing Iran Contra as if it mattered to Reagan's legacy was like starting FDR's obituary with "The man who interred the Japanese died today..."

The reason the Democrats hated it was that it was part of the process that helped bring about a free Nicaragua, in an election which made tham all look like fools for having sided with Castro's pet, Daniel Ortega.

....this is not a funeral.

The way I see it, there are three services that comprise a week long funeral.

State, National and Private.

Why would the ministers mention Jesus Christ when Ronald Reagan never mentioned him?

Huh?

In January 1984, President Reagan dared to utter the “J word” before the annual convention of the National Religious Broadcasters. “No matter where we live,” Reagan began, “we have a promise that can make all the difference—a promise from Jesus to soothe our sorrows, heal our hearts and drive away our fears. He promised there will never be a dark night that does not end. Our weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. He promised if our hearts are true, His love will be sure as sunlight. And by dying for us, Jesus showed how far our love should be ready to go: all the way.”

Get it through your head....this is not a funeral.

The funeral is Friday.

That's the National Funeral.

Tonight was the State Funeral.

I got home and put on the eulogys.

Laid up on the couch and was thinking of my old CINC, Dick Cheney came on and delivered such a sweet eulogy...I drifted off into slumber.

Young, old, rich, poor, Christians, non-Christians. In other words, AMERICANS. Party of the rich, indeed. What garbage!

So true!!! I've always been registered as an Independent, but long ago, I would have called myself more of a democrat. but, as Reagan said, I didn't leave theparty, it left me.
