LIVE THREAD! President and Laura Bush: Larry King Live 8/12
8/12/04

Posted on 08/12/2004 5:35:48 PM PDT by Timeout

George and Laura Bush to be on with Larry King for the full hour tonight. I don't usually watch LKL because of his lame questions. But it should be interesting.

What a dork he is. Sounds like he changes the topic every time he gets an answer he doesn't want.

I agree.. but I think he thought he did brilliantly & GWB just avoided direct answers

You're right, I'm sure someone from the DNC will take King out for dinner for following the script. But given our responses here and in my own opinion, the President took each question and hit it out of the park. Maybe the DNC had a bonus cruise if King could trip the President up so he kept throwing back the gotcha questions, even after answered.

I think he's copying closed-captions off a TV capture card.

I liked it, a chance for a political shot, W holds his powder. Despite all of the physical, moral, physological and national stains that 42 left at Penn. Ave. Bush is still respectful of the office of the President of the United States.
That's why he continues to take the high road, and 42 looks more and more every day like an aging carinval barker.

I have so many comments tonight. I hope I am not overdoing it. ;-)

Anyway, I am feeling more confident about the campaign now that I have seen GWB speak so well. In a way wasn't this sort of like a debate prep? Those same questions will be asked, and he has his facts down very well.

Here's another thought: I would advise his handlers to suggest he do something bold during the first debate. Talk about how much better off we are today as opposed to 4 years ago *before* the liar even brings it up! You know the Dems are itching to use this line to their advantage. I saw Mr Bush should beat them to it.

Jeff Greenberg on CNN's Aaron Brown just said, if Kerry wins the presidency, Barney Frank will run for his senate seat.

Scarbourough is going to have Weasel Clark on tonight.
Gen.Clark will, no doubt, say Najaf was a failure today..and then proceed to tell us how he...The Perfumed Prince....will save the world.

WHICH IS LAUGHABLE SINCE HE COULD NOT EVEN CAPTURE HIS TARGET WHEN HE WAS IN CHARGE OF NATO FORCES.....AND HALF OF THE ENEMY DID NOT HAVE GUNS!!!

Here is the real Clark:

His answer was that it was an interesting idea-- like it was something that just popped up from a think tank and not from Dennis Haster, SOH, a guy who needs and deserves defending by the leader of the party-- and then he begged the American people to believe him when he says he won't raise taxes on them (basicly saying that, "I know you people think that's what this sales tax is about. Well, all you need to know is I won't support a tax increase," which isn't the same as saying the Hastert sales tax would lower taxes).

Frankly, I didn't hear it and wonder if I was so busy typing it went over my head but I have my doubts as I clung to most of their answers. I will definitely watch the reruns tonight.

Righto. What a trifecta day: gay marriage power grab shot down, Jim "Machavellian" Greevy resigning and the President and First Lady showing intelligence, grace, and humor while at the same time proving how small King really is.

I love it!

True and Dan Rather has drooled all over Saddam too.

Yup, Bill Sammon's latest book has a chapter all about that.

I caught that too...he said Impeachment Boy threw himself into the job body and soul. The camera panned to Laura for a moment and she had a smile on her face that said..." I know what you mean by that George..you naughty boy" he he he

Your right. It does make the contrast very obvious. The pig then and the True Leader of the United States now.

They did fantastic tonight. With all the baiting and biting questions, they handled it with style and class - but of course :)!

Wow. That's clever.

FR usually has higher standards of debate. I'm sorry I confused you with someone who could intelligently discuss things. You're looking for the Yahoo! message boards. Check your map and try again.

He could have offered a simple, brief defense of it. It's not hard. He offered no protection for Hastert-- a leader of the GOP.

He did, he said he is for simplifying the tax code. Anything else is a hornet's nest for a public that can't pay attention beyond a 30 second sound bite. Have you heard all of the complaining already? The poor will be hurt the most, the lower middle class next, the middle class next, until finally the rich win. The plan is far too complex and has too much merit to be killed in the current political environment. The time will come for the idea.

I watch Fox & Friends in the morning (I still love Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade) and Brit Hume's news program in the evening. I no longer watch their other programs. Many times I have read something here on FreeRepublic and hear it on FNC days later.

Clinton was the same way!

I blame it on drug use. Using marijuana at an early age keeps a person from maturing naturally. In fact .. some study said that the maturing process is altered.
