We don't have Fox News so I've got this bookmarked to finish reading the rest of the posts in a bit.
Judging by this first page, the interview is one I hate I missed.

Exactly! And .. I think it was 18 months.

They were 2 weeks from their home port of San Diego, and they were turned around in order to support the mission in Afghanistan. When that was over, they were ordered to support the war in Iraq. They were a part of "Shock and Awe".

The Posse Comitatus Act forbids the military to participate in domestic law enforcement.

There may be argument that illegal immigration is tantamount to "invasion."

However, as written by James Madison in The Federalist: the military was for "security against foreign danger,...."¹

While certainly a problem, I do not believe that illegal immigration constitutes "foreign danger," which my interpretation would mean attack by a foreign military or by a sovereign nation.

Immigration and Naturalization, Customs and Border Patrol do not fall under the Department of Defense. Activities by these organizations are subsequently domestic law enforcement issues.

I am blissfully ignorant as a landlubbah, but wholly amazed by the United States Navy. There is no better fighting force in human history.

The USS Lincoln set Wayne Gretzky type records on their cruise. Tens of thousands of launches. Hundreds of thousands of miles. A city of 6000 badasses whipping accross the oceans looking for somebody who "wants some". For a long long time.

President Bush going onto that Carrier was one of the most moving moments of my life. Because I knew what that those heros had endured for 18 months. And I knew our Commander In Chief was there to pay tribute.
