In Your Opinion...

In your opinion, how did the debates go? Did Kerry get the upperhand (yeah right) or did Bush come out strong?

Also, was it just me, or did Kerry seem a little too prepared for those questions? Kerry usually trips over himself whenever he has to answer something, but he glided through this.

I think Bush did very well in this debate considering that alot of the questions were asked in a manner to imply a failed policy in Iraq.

I just wonder where the true Kerry questions were accidentally placed...

Mr. Kerry, why did you vote against financial support for our troops?
Mr. Kerry, why does your senatorial record show a pattern of voting against military improvement?
Mr. Kerry, were those two soldiers, who told you that they needed you, originally stationed at Abu Grahb and thought you were Mr. Edwards instead?
Mr. Kerry, how can you claim that we don't have a sufficient coalition in Iraq, yet you want to bring bi-lateral talks to N. Korea?

Well he's had 20 years of it on the Senate Floor - that's all those people do is debate back and forth. Well I am going to think positive because there are still 2 more and Bush will make a comeback. Bush looked tired from meeting with the Hurricane victims and from campaigning. I want to know what the surprises are that Karl Rove was talking about.

"Kerry looked a little weird with the extra rouge."

Yeah, Kerry WAY overdid the makeup...just like Gore did. Must be a girlie man thing. Didn't do a thing to make his ugly puss look any better though....just more phoney.

No, the American people didnt miss the fact that Bush actually won the debate. I'm in a room full of non-bloggers, non-politco types, and they seemed puszzled by kerry, then bored, then left the room. Kapisch?

Now that I've taken a deep breath and thought about it for a few minutes, I don't think this debate will make a difference or change too many minds. Yeah, I'm leaning that way, too. I don't think this debate will change much. But Bush people have to get out and counter the liberal media's push for Kerry win.

Bush missed a chance to put him away in the first 5 minutes. When Kerry said we are taking 90% of the casualties Bush should have looked at him and said the Iraq's are taking 90% of the casualties.

Bush is a true believer in the New Tone. As such, I think he was keeping his powder dry. You could tell he was less than thrilled with all the criticism, but his critic offered no substantive solutions--as such, Kerry proved tonight that he is part of the problem, not part of the solution--i.e., he was essentially non-presidential.

Early on I thought things were going to get pretty nasty, but I believe that Bush knows he had nothing to win by filleting, battering, and frying Kerry on nationwide TV.

Actually you are correct about the boredom. People that I am with walked out in the middle of the debate and went outside. Bored to death. I even turned it off a few times myself and did a few things around the house which I never do during debates.

I watched the whole debate and I didn't hear the bias, although I wasn't looking for it.

The only evidence of bias I saw clearly was that Lehrer kept trying to get Bush to attack Kerry. "Would we be more likely to face an attack if Kerry were eleceted?" "Do you think there are character issues which disqualify Kerry to be President?"

If he asked Kerry similar questions about Bush, I missed them.

Bush resisted the attack. I might not have been so strong.

Shalom.

It appeared to me that Lurch was EXTREMELY well prepared, as if he knew the questions ahead of time.

WHY ON EARTH did James Baker allow THREE libs to moderate the three debates? I'm just screaming about this, but will be polite while posting here. The questions were truly stacked against the President.

Are you trying to say capisce? Then don't do it, because it hurts my ears when you do it.

I love that movie...

You know something? I will be voting for the first time this year. I just turned 18. I think that as a new voter and a person who will be contributing to this country that I can now speak my opinion.

I am not the smartest person when it comes to politics. I know enough to say that President Bush did not blow it. My mom encouraged me to watch the debate tonight so that I could make up my own mind. To be honest I have heard so much about all of the supposed failures that Bush has made in his term. I have heard a lot about the hope that Kerry would bring. I hope you understand there are many young people who will rely on what they hear rather than what they see and they will vote based on that.

I listened to Kerry tonight and I saw a man who would threaten the way of life that I know and hold dear. He is a man who has no principle. Listening to him I could see a furture that held America hostage to the whims and wishes of others who don't like us to begin with. All he seemed to care about was world opinion. World opinion isn't going to keep us from being attacked. It isn't going to keep our economy strong. You don't change opinions of others by giving into them. In doing that you only give others control over you. America cannot be controlled by any one else other than we the people. If we ever give in then we are doomed and even I know that.

So even though Kerry may have spoken more eloquently, remember this. It is easy to masquerade your lies under the disguise of eloquent speech.

President Bush may not have used fancy words or style but he was honest. I don't want a man who holds my country's future in his hands to lie to me. This country's future is my future. It is my little brothers' and sister's future. It is my children's future when I have them. President Bush will protect this country and that means protecting me and everyone I love.

So please, don't say Bush blew it and add to the negativity that us young kids have to wade through. I have learned a lot from the debate. I learned that a man can stand up in a suit and look good but be empty inside. That is how John Kerry came across to me. I feel real fear in knowing that this man could be elected president of the United States and will tell all of my friends that even though he talks a pretty talk his plans for America are just plain ugly.

My name is Miles and I am Please No Mores son and proud of it. I may not have said everything I wanted to just right but I am a good and decent person. So is our President.

Bush did what Bush does.
Yes, he could have twisted the knife, but he didn't. That is not his style.
He did rebuff many of Kerrys false assertions,
but he's the kind of person who will allow his opponent to step in iy, not push them.

I think Kerry's canned responses may be more polished,
but Bush's thoughtful searching for words and tone
are more effective,
especially considering that Bush IS waging war...

As Teddy once said, "speak softly..."
