Can anyone here find a link/article to where it says Artest hit the wrong fan, and the guy he went after wasn't the one who threw the beer?
Thanks
Apparently there are precendents for what Wallace did and his suspension is in line with previous shoving incidents.
I still think his suspension is too short.
amen.
"wrong fan" found in these articles:

He hit them both eventually.
I am not sure but it looked like one of the same guys that said this morning that any fan that came onto the court was "fair game". Funny he didn't say that any player that went into the stands should be considered "fair game".
One of the cameras showed him taunting Artest...not that that is any excuse to clock him.
What I don't understand is why Jackson only got 30 games...I guess Stern took Artest's past actions into consideration.
after reviewing tapes (per police) it shows that one kid was just having a good time at all of the fighting, he still had his drink in his hand he was innocent, he has a good payday coming; and another fan was punched by jackson also who was not involved and those poor fools on the court they were beaten not only by o'neal but some of the coaching staff
The interviewee was asked if he was feeling any pain and the guy kinda rubbed his neck and let out a little half-wink saying, he was a little sore but he should be okay.
Can you say, "ka-ching$$$"?).
You should learn to tune Mike Gallagher out in cases like this. He's one of the biggest phonies in radio -- and one of his most annoying traits is that he'll stake out idiotic positions just to generate interest in his show.
I'm sorry, I don't buy this one.
He didn't "just" snap. Ron Artest has had anger and attitude problems since he entered the league. I think the year long suspension might have something to do with that (he was already suspended for two games earlier in this young season!).
He has exhibited bad behavior his entire career.
15 games? He went into the stands and started pummeling a fan who did not do anything to him. Then he attacked other people, it didn't end there. He should have been arrested and anybody else would lose thier job, and not just for a year. He's been a "bad boy" for a long time. But teams will employ anyone if they think it will win them a game.
The entire sports media stays up late at night thinking of ways to excuse terrible behavior. they are liberal to a fault, and they make me sick.
I agree, Wallace's suspension is too short. He assaulted another player and then went after him and wouldn't stop.
The decline of the NBA goes back to the days of refs like Mendy Rudolph, who began allowing all the pushing and shoving. Then it became a joke - the refs began deciding which pushing and shoving they'd allow (usually by favored "stars"), and which they wouldn't. That's why I can hardly watch the NBA anymore - the officiating is ridiculous, completely arbitrary.
ESPN announcers are former jocks themselves so I guess they are protecting their own. They are wrong of course and if Stern didn't suspend Artest for the rest of the season it would have almost been an endorsement of his actions.
The irony is that off the ice, hockey players are generally considered among the most decent professional athletes you'll ever meet.
I agree. I want to see the outcry against every fan pouring drinks, etc on the players as they were leaving the arena. Ridiculous. Bullies & thugs.
This has been discussed a lot on other threads. Throwing a punch in an NBA game generally gets a player a one-game suspension. I suspect he got one game for starting the brawl and another five for lingering on the court and making a scene afterwards.
If the league were to penalize him any more than that, then they would basically be holding him responsible for the idiocy of the Pacer players who ran up into the seats.
well they are idiots.
if you don't know who threw the cup, you don't go hitting innoncent people there with there kids!!!
The writer went on to say that Stephen Jackson was originally trying to separate Artest from the fans when he got suckerpunched and Jackson had not hit anyone until he was struck.
