For the first time in my 45 years I attended an inaugural ball. Well actually two on back to back nights. What struck me about my experience is how very different they were.

Yes, there is a natural Hot Springs in the mountains of North Carolina. The tubs are scattered in the woods. Rumor has it that folks have been known to play slap and tickle while minimally clothed in that environment.

Hi afraidfortherepublic, I don't know if this will work on your PC but when I get one of those big ads I hit control and exscape at the same time and it takes care of it.

I was having trouble with way too many pop ups and I took your advise Rhiannon and downloaded AVG free antivirus software. So far it is working great. Thank you for the advise. Afraidfortherepublic if you haven't tried it I also strongly recommend it. It seems to be working wonderfully.

Now this was a ball, literally.

A rubber sphere or a football?

Glad it worked for you. Sometimes it eliminates popups that I want and then I have hit the Ctl key

Last night, I attended the Free Republic ball. Now this was a ball, literally. Held at the Washington Plaza hotel it was something to behold. There were something like 700 freepers and their friends in attendance and it was a great mix of food, fun and entertainment. We were treated to a video presentation of Free Republic activities, a few awards including one to Buckhead who was one of the first people to spot the irregularties in the Bush memos that Dan Rather was trying to pass off as genuine and a rousing performance by Capital Offense, with bass guitarist Mike Huckabee, who also happens to be the governor of Arkansas.

It was a great night and a whole lot more fun that the state ball from the night before. I hated to see it end and I can't wait until 2009.

Thanks for posting this, suthrngirl.

Amy, did you see this? FreeRepublic sure knows how to throw a party!

Thank you to Jim Robinson and the DC freepers, particularly Kristinn and Takoma, for making this happen. It was a blast.

LOL

If we can't swing Hawaii, San Diego would be nice or Monterey or Santa Barbara. How about Phoenix or Albuquerque?

Lived there for three years. You (and other Freepers) will have a blast. I'll even take you by Jeb's house on Fisher Island. We can stay until they call security!

I didn't see any ad except on the right side of the page. I don't have any popups either. I did notice that the page needs to be opened to a full size window to read it all - as part of the text of the message is covered up by the right side of the page it it's not. It must be just in the design of the web page.
