A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; starting today our weekends will begin on Friday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

What a sweet story, DD--it sure tops mine, which, of course, was just a "story"! I want pictures of you playing octopus with your grown kids! LOL! Glad I could call forth some wonderful memories!

"No matter how much trouble occured that day or how tired the body was, "Daddy's Home!" meant it's time to play octopus. Daddy assumes his position on the living room floor, flat on his back. Our babies would run back and forth dodging the outstretched arms trying to grab them.

Thanks LUV W for sparking the memories. Methinks I'll engage them in a game of octopus the next time they come over."

How tender are those kinds of memories!
Isn't it amazing to look at those 'litle ones' and realize they are older than we were when those games were played?
Now our steps are slower and they are play with their children -- and one even has a grandson now.

My firstborn 'little boy' called me today with an update on his mother-in-law, collapsing and hospitalized the week after burying her husband - Steve's dear father-in-law.

She had had a TIA with temporary paralysis and inability to speak - tests also revealed she at some time had two 'silent' ischemic heart attacks - but they found no other blockage. Sandy took her home on Easter, and she is doing well now, and will probably return to Florida with Sandy in another week or two; cleared to do so by her physician.

How special it is to talk with your grown up man child heart to heart, knowing he and his (and the two other children and spouses and their children) walk so strongly with the Lord!

I am blessed, and know it full well --

Billie, my dear lady...as always, I am being myself. Which amounts to trying to outrun everybody else that wants to wack me on the head ( usually for good reason! ).

Remember my friend Dale? Some lady corralled him...it was so sad. He didn't even kick and scream...the big wuss. Now that I know you are posting, I can harrass you again...:-)

Cobwebs

Read:
Romans 10:11-17

How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard. -Romans 10:14

Bible In One Year: 1 Samuel 29-31

cover The story is told of a painter who was commissioned to portray a run-down church. But instead of an old, tottering ruin, he painted a magnificent edifice of modern design. Through the windows could be seen an ornate collection box for the gifts of the fashionable worshipers. Above it hung a sign bearing the inscription "For Missions." Sadly, the box was covered in cobwebs.

The church or the individual whose heart and life is not involved in the worldwide proclamation of the gospel is on the way to ruin. We may be engaged in feverish "Christian activity," but our energies are misdirected if the main thrust of God's program for this age goes unattended.

God has so designed His plan of world evangelization that every believer is to be vitally involved. We all should "pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest" (Matthew 9:38).

Some will also hear His personal call to be preachers-otherwise, "how shall they hear?" (Romans 10:14).

Still others will be givers and senders, for "how shall they preach unless they are sent?" (v.15).

Let there be no cobwebs over the cause of world missions because of our lack of concern. -Paul Van Gorder

Lord of harvest, send forth reapers,
Hear us, Lord, to Thee we cry;
Send them now the sheaves to gather,
Ere the harvest time pass by. -Thompson

Untold millions are perishing-untold.

My husband is usually the one to remember - and usually does it in the middle of the afternoon.....but for some reason he didn't yesterday. The only reason I remembered was I was trying to do a quick time change between our time and Italian time shortly before 9 last night.........it quickly became shortly before 10 in this house!

One Fall sunday, I showed up for church and couldn't understand why I was the only one in the parking lot. I didn't realize I was more than an hour early for the first service.
It is a very strange feeling of disorientation when you are out of sync with the world around you. And of course, my first thoughts were more like what is wrong with everyone?

Good morning FReepers. Have a great day Mayor. Hope your wife is continuing to recover nicely.

I did something similar when I was about 14........but it wasn't a strange feeling I got, just one of annoyance. I was to be the Lector at 9am Mass........I showed up at 7:45 just in time for 8am Mass and Father decided I would do both Masses..........since I was there anyway.....

Beo Beo Beo !!!

Wherefore hast thou been?!
Wert thou trapped on the other side of Freeper Island with those stranded Seabees since 1999?
In a perpetual stupor from the proceeds of Razorback-bert's still?

Miss ya, man -- how be the critters?
