NAS pensacola evac'd all their aircraft Saturday. I was in a seminar in west Fort Worth, and we heard 10 F-16s fly in to NAS Fort Worth on Saturday afternoon.

Quick hurricane contest:

Kudos in advance to the first person who explains how the Dems will work the hurricane into the Roberts confirmation hearing?

But the main thing is how are Bills dogs ?

I'll let the market and competition take care of people who raise prices. Each of these situations is different in so many ways.

Yeah, when it went over that peninsula, it jogged over. That little line of land saved NO from the brunt of the NE eyewall it looks like.

Well... not totally. She chose a bad time to bring it up -- guess she is taking a page from Hillary's book (remember outside Clinton's hospital and her comment -- at least we have health insurance -- unlike most Americans... but there is a definite problem in that area and unless it's addressed our refineries and chemical plants in the area are in jeopardy due to receeding shoreline.

The silt from the Mississippi used to build the offshore islands and protected the mainland during hurricanes. The series of dams and levies up-and-down the Miss has changed that; including building the ground around New Orleans -- which has not always been below the level of the Mississippi and Ponchatrain...

"You can see the jog that saved the city of New Orleans from destruction."

What jog. New Orleans got the full force of the western eyewall. The clear eye missed New Orleans but that is not the damaging part of the storm. The white bands are the damaging part.

Haley Barbour gave out that info at a press conference (about some of the casinos being flooded to the second floor.)

He also was very broken up. In response to the question, "What is your worst fear?" He said, "I'm afraid we're going to find a lot of dead people when we get back into the flooded areas."

storm is turning northwest.......not northeast. Odd

Do you have a source for this? Onyx may be interested in that, as the western side could affect her if it goes more NW.
