Now is the Time to Shut Up

Now is the Time to Shut Up Robin Mullins Boyd

The complete and utter devastation of the Gulf Coast from Hurricane Katrina breaks my heart. Every picture of the damage, every picture of the victims rips at my soul. My heart tells me that the flattened cities are just scenes from a movie, while my brain tells me that the Gulf Coast will never be the same.

In spite of the mass of suffering humanity, some have decided to use this fierce attack from Mother Nature as another excuse to blame President Bush, the Republicans or even the United States. I woke this morning to hear Miles O’Brien braying like a jackass while attempting to goad Gov. Barbour into blaming the Federal Government (AKA the Bush Administration) for “dropping the ball.” I listened to callers on AM talk radio proclaim that Hurricane Katrina was God’s wrath on the United States because George W. Bush is President. Other callers decided that the evil Republicans were deliberately not helping the African Americans in New Orleans so the plan for a “New World Order” could proceed. People running off with televisions and boxes of Nike shoes were called “victims” while snipers shot at hospital personnel trying to evacuate patients. And who could forget Robert Kennedy Jr’s truckload of manure, disguised as an op-ed on the Huffington Post, thrown at President Bush and Governor Barbour.

That spark of the anti-war movement, Cindy Sheehan, took time away from her I Hate Bush bus tour to blame the President for the Hurricane. Meanwhile the 3-bus tour continues while we regular folks wait in line to pay over $3.00 per gallon for gas. The New York Times was more concerned with a critique of President Bush’s speech and the old canard about “global warming” than the looters preventing the rescue of survivors. Sidney Blumenthal lamented the Bush budget cuts for New Orleans flood control to pay for the illegal, immoral and unjust war in Iraq. Blumenthal conveniently forgot what the Clinton administration did to funding for flood control in New Orleans.

Over at the “underground”, the grassroots of the Left took up where the media stopped. Here is a few of the best of the worst…

“We are all victims of this disaster called the Bush Administration. And the best way to help ALL the victims of this disaster is to end it.”

“Did Bush order the failure to fill the levee breach? The City of New Orleans has essentially been destroyed because of a massive failure to attack the levee breach in time. There was a plan in place - but for an as yet unexplained reason - the effort to fill the breach never began, as if someone ordered it not to occur.”

“This has GOT to be our opportunity. Bush *#@% royally on this one. We have to do or say absolutely anything to use this disaster to get rid of the useless chimp.”

“There is no doubt that Bush could have prevented this. We have to make sure that this is the end of this slimy administration.”

“Well, the Bushgang never liked New Orleans anyway.”

“With all the looting happening in New Orleans, and bad as that is, especially with the gun-toting thugs shooting at rescuers and relief workers, STILL I can’t imagine anything as bad as the Corporate looting that has been going on in this country ever since GWB took office.”

“The people who BENEFIT from Republicans in power flew out of New Orleans to their Vacation Resort Homes in Aspen two days before the storm. They are over insured and will be at the front of the line of the government payouts. The top 1% will make money off of their losses on the Gulf Coast.”

“Imagine if this happened in some lily white red state city – the reaction would be much different. I’m guessing the repukes are letting people just die there.”

“They call it thinning the herd.”

“Those Louisiana and Deep Southern mega churches are just storming into action. I see all those big volunteer teams of white Christians fanning out and helping their fellow man, reaching across race lines, volunteering their time, money, and efforts, lowering prices to help the poorest refugees make it through in their time of need. Oh wait; I’m not actually seeing any of that.”

“Fundies probably have no interest in helping New Orleans anyway. Bush is probably celebrating.”

“I have to wonder if the failure to patch the levees was somehow intentional. We know New Orleans is a hugely Democratic area.”

“I guess Homeland Security funds can only be spent chasing down people wearing turbans.”

“Know your America: White people salvage, black people loot.”

There is plenty of time for the left wing fringe to fire up their black helicopters and make their tin foil hats. There is more than enough time left in the Bush Administration for the media to beat up on the President. You have three more years to blame President Bush for everything from hurricanes to panty lines. People are waiting on their roofs for rescue workers. Resources are being diverted to control looting. Rescuers are risking their own life to save the hurricane victims. Families are searching for some tiny piece of their life before the hurricane.

Now is the time for the hate filled Bush bashing party of blame to shut up. Channel some of that energy into helping your fellow Americans. You will have plenty of time to spew your venom after the rescue and recovery efforts are completed.

Still, ya gotta feel sorry for them. It must be very frustrating to be consistantly outwitted by a "useless chimp".

They won't shut up. They actually welcomed this disaster as another opportunity to bash President Bush. We need to make sure that they get busted on all their stupid pronouncements, such as the one made by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and show the world that they are a bunch of anti-American socialist traitors.

By any means necessary.

They consistently put party before country.

I can't believe as a Brit you don't understand the deep-seated liberal PC nonsense that goes on here.

We are soooooo worried about hurting (literally) OR "offending" any1 that it stifles law enforcement. I thought that was the case in GB too. It's almost a joke to have law enforcement at all, when at best they get to do "catch&release" of crooks. And are villified and "investigated" and even tried every single time they should actually shoot some scumbag homie drug dude w/a gun on the big-city street corner. Instead of applauding getting rid of pure scum, the local "citizens" cry out about "racist" "trigger-happy" cops (even when they're black) who shoot everything in site, and that they should be hung.

Top it off w/lawsuits every time something like this happens - never mind you can sue McDonald's for spilling coffee on yourself.

That's the attitude that pervades here, and we're crippled by it. Regardless of terror attacks; the attitude really hasn't changed.

You wrote..."Though it may cost me another term as President

Just how many consecutive terms do you think a US President can have? This IS Bush's second term.

no and Hitler wasn't planning on coming your way. sure.

Actually he had already given up on Britain after the Luftwaffe lost the 'Battle of Britain' to the RAF and set his sights on the USSR. Then America joined the war.

maybe I should have mentioned this "cliche"--we Americans don't speak the Queen's English thanks to our brave troops.

Most Britons don't speak the Queen's English either so we have something in common.

btw: the men who fought in WWII don't see it as "cliche stuff".

No the cliche is that America "liberated" Britain. This is quite clearly factually untrue.

you didn't directly say that the troops were coward~~ you implied it.....right after your proclamation of astonishment, comparison to Indonesia and how British troops would never not go down a street b/c of dangerous men...can you imagine!---you bought the line and perpetuated the lies. you are complicit.

Any soldier who refused to go stay in an area of America because it was dangerous is a disgrace. Agree? If it never happened there is no problem.

It is a shame. I know there are people who are even heroic out there, who won't get publicity. I know there are people who are just plain DOUBLE victims - of the hurricane and the scum who cower them on a daily basis as it is and now are out in the open. They won't get publicity - esp. by the MSM.

LOL did you see Shep Smith on Fox y-day? He was at some initial evac point and asked an older black blind man (who already mentioned coming w/his non-blind grandson) "how difficult was it to get out (to & w/the rescuers)?" He said IT WAS EASY!

He made Shep look like a fool. I bet even Fox won't like to show things like that again.

As an insider, I have a few remarks to whiney A$$hole Brits like yourself, when you dare to criticize our military and our government based on liberal news.

1. My ancestors didn't kill enough Brits in our Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. If they had killed more, maybe you wouldn't be around.

2. My Dad, his friends kept the Germans from invading Britain in WWI. Later my uncles and older cousins saved your sorry whining a$$es in WWII with their bodies and blood. My parents, grandparents and non service people paid a lot of money to keep England afloat which we were never paid back during WWII.

3. Our constitution prevents our military from carrying out military activities like you are asking for. That is the responsibility of the La. National Guard. The person who is responsible for ordering riot control and shooting of looters is the governor. The governor is a left wing Politically Correct Governor, and she will not order this response. President Bush can't order that response by our constitution.

4. Our constitution came about after we won the revolutionary war. A war which was started by your STD insane King George. Our founding fathers made sure that Brit law which allowed the uncontrolled use of National Military forces in the home country would never be used in America.

Last but not least, many of those so called cowards in the La National Guard have served honorably in tours in Iraq. They weren't cowards then, nor are they cowards now.

Your whiney a$$ed accusations have put you below the French Frogs.

Gee, if my memory serves me correctly....I believe that there are locally elected officials in LA who are responsible for disaster preparedness...

But since that's obviously not the case, then we need to turn all of LA into a federal colonly, since it looks like if the least thing goes wrong there, it's all Bush's fault.

So..... Where is your precious British Army? Don't recall any British military units volunteering to come here to help?

Can an American FReeper rebute this hysterical nonsense, and point out it's mile-wide flaws, so I'm not called 'anti-american'!

Regardless of ideology some people just want to blame others.

Saw your last line in #86.

Read my comments again. PC rules here. PC tells those "disgraceful" guys NOT TO SHOOT and, by extension, to extricate themselves from situations where it seems they'd have no other choice!

Blame the lib politicians who come up w/this namby-pamby crap of "don't offend the criminal (he just had a bad life)" for when the soldiers "leave".

I honestly think that was unnecessary.

Frankly I don't see where cooper was doing anything particularly offensive. He was just asking innocent questions. Maybe frustrated questions, but innocent nonetheless.

cooper, Please don't judge us all by some who go off at the slightest.

And Grampa, while I respect your opinions very much (in the past, etc), I just don't think it's good to go making more enemies, esp. when there really isn't any insult going on anyway.
