Pat Robertson has a message for Dover, PA: Don't ask God to help.

DOVER, Pa. -- Pat Robertson had a special message for residents of Dover, Pa., today after voters there elected to boot the current school board, which instituted an intelligent design policy that led to a federal trial.

Robertson made the comment after Lee Webb of CBN News delivered a report on how residents in Dover voted in eight new Democratic board members, replacing all eight current members who had voted for a policy that required students in ninth-grade biology classes to hear a statement on intelligent design before hearing lessons on evolution. Webb then asked Robertson what he thought about the vote.

Here was Robertson's response.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected him from your city. And don't wonder why he hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for his help because he might not be there."

It is not hating America. We hate a holy, righteous God.
God loves this world but humans can choose to reject Him.
The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Do we have free-will? Yes, we can choose to reject God laws and experience condemnation of a Heavenly Judge carrying out the verdict. God desires us to follow His will but He will not force us to do it.

You're too kind. He's a nut. And some folks on this thread apparently are too.

If I opened the door to my hovel and fired a slingshot, chances are it would break a church window. We have more churches per square mile, more christians per capital, than any other nation on earth.

Pat Robertson is an America-Hating TRAITOR. And so is anyone else who says we 'deserved' 9/11.

Christian haters? How about people who are just plain embarrassed? I'll bet most of the people on this thread who are criticizing Robertson are Christians.

I am here to preach the good news. If you will kiss Hank's feet, you'll get a million dollars. But if you won't, Hank'll beat the crap out of you. Why? Because Hank loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.

I agree. We can't continue to reject God.

I don't get it.  Proponents of putting ID into the science class were booted from the board, and God is being dissed?

What happened to the argument that ID is not a religious thing? If it's not religious, what's it got to do with the wrath of God?

You have to understand the creationist mandate to become a "Liar for the Lord." Back in 1987 the creationists lost in court while swearing on the Bible that "creationism" had nothing to do with God or religion. They were lying.

Now that creationism was shot down, they have switched terms and now push ID, without even noticing that their favorite ID icons are not creationists at all. Some of these icons even accept EVILotion! Horrors!

But what do they say now? ID is NOT about God or religion. At least -- that's what they say in PUBLIC. In private, it's a whole 'nother ballgame. And all the creationists are jumping on the ID bandwagon.

But they continue to bray that ID has nothing to do with religion or God -- and castigate us for pointing out the background connection they are denying. This thread puts the lie to all those pious claims.

Yep -- "Liars for the Lord." I see no difference between this and the "flirty fishing" of the Children of God cult.

I sort of suspect that all the tough people here sort of turn to their God when the going gets tough. Talking tough is one thing, walking the walk when you are in dire personal straits is quite another.

Condemning and demeaning others for their beliefs and thoughts is quite intolerant.

Oh, you mean like -- on, I dunno -- warning people who have voted out lying, perjuring IDers that they are under God's judgment now and better watch their backs? Right -- I agree completely. It's intolerant.

You DID meant that -- right?

Nonsense. It's impossible to read without interpretation. The "explanation" was my attempt to see if my "interpretation" is correct? Why are you being so cryptic?

Did you mean to communicate meaning or not? Did you mean that condemning the Dover voters was intolerant? If not -- whatever else you meant -- don't you agree that your statement would fit that condemnation, too? If not, why not?

So it has come to the point where we have now rejected God Himself if we have not accepted ID! If Pat is a Creationist then it is rich that he holds in such high esteem an evolving, incohesive philosophical movement that plays coyly with deism, does not endorse Creationism, and, more critically, does not explicitly reject the idea of macro-evolution. Pat's pronouncement is obnoxious!

Yes, Pat is a creationist. And no -- he does not hold ID in high esteem. Like so many other cretionists, he is just jumping on the ID bandwagon because the attempts to force creationism into the curriculum were shot down in 1987. After ID is shot down, he and the others will just jump on the next bandwagon.

Liars for the Lord don't have to be consistent, you know.

I'd be much happier if he pretended to represent Islam and embarrassed Muslims on TV instead of Christians.

The Muslims embarrass themselves without pat's help

Well my take is that God commanded that the voters smite the Philistines, and vote them out, because they were an embarrassment to His name, and the voters, touched by the Holy Spirit, obeyed, and as a result, Dover is now suffused with the glow of God's pleasure, everywhere.

Amen! Hallelujah! All laughing aside -- more germane to this list is the oft-expressed problem that creationism/ID is damaging to the conservative movement as a whole.
