One additional question does anyone know how this will effect school districts with recruiting? I hope it means the same for them. Amen.

"how far can the feds go in telling you what to do if you accept fed money"

It's a popular misconception that this ruling applies to that- but it doesn't.

"This case does not require us to determine when a condition placed on university funding... becomes an unconstitutional condition. It is clear that a funding condition cannot be unconstitutional if it could be constitutionally imposed directly... the First Amendment would not prevent Congress from directly imposing the Solomon Amendment's access requirement, "
(in bold just to help others notice it)

Terrorists can recruit at Yale; our military can not.

Just how far can the feds go in telling you what to do if you accept fed money, even in matters having no direct relationship to the use of that money?

Don't accept fed money then.

Glad to see that Roberts changed the rules so that a snore is a vote in the affirmative for however he votes...

The DUmp only posts quickly about stuff that is good for their side. Otherwise they usually ignore it.

Chief Justice Roberts wrote the opinion of the Court. Also, during the hearings he kept saying people do not believe the law Schools are standing on "Moral Grounds" because they continue to TAKE THE MONEY!!

I love that guy!!

Notice the Donner Party posters are never satisfied.

The Donner Party - LOL! A very apt description. I'm going to steal that, if you don't mind.

Unanamious decision. Unbelievable. I thought for sure Ginsberg or Breyer would throw a wrench in the works with a dissent. But, it's almost enough to restore one's faith in the judicial system in this country. No, not quite...

W. gave us Roberts and (eventually) Alito. I think we'll be thanking him for that one for 20 years or so.

Actually the rumor is that Ginsberg died a couple of years ago and her law clerks stuffed her body and they prop it up during oral arguments. This time they didn't do such a good job.

Here's a shot of one of the clerks holding her up:

Good. I agree 100% with the ruling. I think any public institution should be forced to accept military recruiters. I think any private school should have the option to accept or reject them but that if they reject them they shouldn't get a cent in government grants or financial aid.

Unanimous? Wake me up...I must be dreaming!

Sometimes, a case is so obvious--or a decision would benefit both sides--and we'll get that outcome. I bet they'd also be unanimous at allowing Federal funding of education, despite there being no Constitutional authority for it.

Why was this ever an issue to begin with? Seems like a no-brainer to me. This is like those dumb 20 year old girls who are having daddy and mommy pick up the tab for their huge weddings, and then they insist that "It's MY wedding, and I'll be the one to decide...blah blah blah".

...if there is a policy we oppose, a school will have to follow that policy if they accept Fed funds too.

*DING* *DING* *DING*

You've succinctly articulated Reason Number ONE why school vouchers are a very BAD idea. If accepting vouchers would mean conforming all curricula to government-set guidelines, then many private schools would refuse to accept them, thus rendering the whole program futile.
