Maybe they should change their name from Dixie Chicks to Jihad Womyn. That might help with the Lilith Fair crowd.

Even bad publicity is publicity, and they are playing it to the hilt.

I just picked up this wonderful 3 CD boxed set the other day....
...If you want real downhome folk music, with fiddle, mandolin, dobro, guitar, etc...
...get or order, Bluegrass Revival...
If you liked the music of Oh Brother Where Art Thou...it's very similar...
..anyway, this is the music for you.
..the lead singer, Steve Ivey, is a Grammy nominee.
The music/instrumentals/singers are wonderful!
And I have to think these folks politics are more in line with ours. :)

Three years ago they apologized for dissing the President. Now, they're back with a new album - and a retraction of the apology..
Frankly Grasshopper (aka Mr Editor of Time Magazine) don't you find the
timing of this apology retraction a bit...auspicious?
And do you not consider calling this article "In the line of fire"... a tad hysterically liberal on this Memorial Day weekend honoring people who were REALLY "in the line of fire" for something greater than billboard chart listings??
In the Line of Fire (?)

Is their new album #1 like the MSM said it would be? I'm not so sure of that and it would surprise me if it is!

They've tried everything to restart their careers, from "nude" Mag. interviews, TV talk show bumps, style changes and now the ultimate last ditch effort; See BS's 60 minutes.....(An MSM has-been, discredited, unpopular and average age audience over 60.)
WOW! Now that ought to resuscitate their terminal ignorance!

I think that it will be #1, it's on the shopping list of the hate America crowd, promoted by the MSM

The dynamics have changed.
The MSM no longer influences the public like it used to. and the "Hate America Crowd" is not into bluegrass or country. They are addictive Meth heads who believe Moby or Metalica is nothing short of Laurence Welk. And they won't pay good drug money to support music they can't relate to.
The Chicks blew out their base audience years ago. They're doomed.

Great column. Pat Boone just keeps getting better with age.
MSM has been working extra-hard to help get the Ditzies back on track. They've made several appearances on GMA, there's the "60 Minutes" interview, they were reported on "The View" more than once, and prime time programs like "Medium" on the networks feature not only their music, but display the CD cover afterwards.
The people who are supporting them now have no real love for them or their music--they regard the Chicks as backward hicks (you can tell by the interviews) and their music as proof of it. Once their usefulness is over, they'll be dropped like hot potatoes. Dixie who?

Larry the Cable Guy was far more succinct:

No matter what the lyrics, their new song sucks. It is ear garbage.
But pile the sanctimonious, self-righteous lyrics on top and the resulting product is odious.

Just curious one CW fan to another -- what do you think of Mr and Mrs Faith Hill's recent comments on the war? The comments were no where near as strong as natalie maines', but...Think they'll feel any back-lash? If I can jump in here on your question:
I don't see their comments being repeated very much. Their comments are just another squeak in the cacophony of squeaks from America's media.
But, if they keep it up, there will be a price. Tim McGraw is to country music what the Partidge Family was to rock. And he's got Faith glammed up more than Marilyn Monroe, making her more pop than country as well. Country fans that I talk to are noticing where Mr. Inch Deep and a Mile Wide has taken his wife and the direction of her career. If they go too political, Tim will be booking Faith on TRL instead of collecting ACM Awards.

Would someone explain to me what makes these liberals think that what their doing now is going to boost their careers. The same people who were buying their albums and quit will just be further annoyed.
