Live Election Returns (vote.ss.ca.gov/index.html) ^

Posted on 06/06/2006 7:45:05 AM PDT by CounterCounterCulture

Welcome to the live thread for the California Primary Election. Polls are open until 8pm tonight. If you are a registered voter, it is your duty to vote and defend your rights and civil liberties, protect your pocketbook, and vote the bums out where applicable.

Feel free to discuss issues key to your local area that others may be interested in. Post your polling place experiences if you like. And post numbers as they come in later tonight.

The 65th Assembly race is one of the dirtiest campaigns in my memory

Salas was nuked over the weekend with a newspaper article that she was living with her boyfriend--not well received by Religious Right folks...

Marked up my voting pamphlet (and my hubby's) and am ready to go after work - I usually go first thing in the morning, but had to drop my car off for service.

While I was riding in the dealer's shuttle to work, all the guys in the van were complaining about having no one good to vote for, "and this 'group' in office is the worst ever" - sounded like they weren't going to go and vote today. Since they sounded like Dims, I just smiled and didn't say a word. Let them stay home, nothing is going to keep me away from the polls today - even if I have to hold my nose and vote for a couple of these candidates - the alternative is too scary to contemplate.

Have a quick question wasn't there supposed to be something on the ballot regarding illegal immigration? I thought I heard something on cable yesterday.

There is a petition in circulation... There was also an initiative that failed to qualify for the November ballot...

Lowest turnout expected for statewide vote
By John Wildermuth, Chris Heredia and Patrick Hoge, San Francisco Chronicle

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/06/06/MNG5MJ94QG1.DTL

A record low 34 percent of California's 15.6 million eligible voters are expected to cast ballots in today's statewide election, which includes the Democratic primary battle for governor and a host of other closely followed state and local contests. That would be the lowest turnout since the Field Poll began making pre-election turnout estimates in 1946.

By the way, I chickened out at the last minute and just voted Reed for San Jose Mayor instead of Mulcahy. I heard Reed said said he voted against the 1/2 cent sales tax increase.

Did my part. Voted for McClintock, and against the two initiatives (voting No on the Meathead initiative has got to be the most satisfying part of my day).

I figure with the voter turnout low, my vote is that much more powerful! Of course, let's hope the union thugs don't get their boys and girls to the precincts in larger proportions and pass the daycare for illegals measure.
