Not content with all the profanity already on TV, CBS has decided to air the profanity-laden unedited version of "9/11" on Sept. 10. The decision by CBS is a slap in the face to the FCC and Congress, which recently raised indecency fines to $325,000 per incident.
"9/11," which will be shown in prime-time, contains a tremendous amount of hardcore profanity. CBS has stated they have not, and will not, make any cuts in the amount and degree of profanity. CBS will ignore the law. The network is suing the FCC over the indecency law, saying they should be able to show whatever they desire whenever they desire. CBS wants no limits.
This is a test case for CBS to see how far they can go. If there is no out-pouring of complaints from the public, they will go further the next time.

The angriest letters are going to come from Cable TV shills pretending to be outraged parents. After all, cable's only edge is that they can air profanity and display nudity.
I wouldn't let kids watch it, profanity or not.
OK, mjane, I give up. You obviously want to control what others are able to see, as you are too lazy, or stupid, to control what your kiddies watch. Which of my many other obnoxious proclivities do you wish to control?

You really think little kids are even going to be interested in this? This is going to be something adults want to watch, if the adults are watching, the adults will see the warning screen. If it's just kids, they'll flip past it looking for a cartoon, lingering no longer than they would a documentary on the great accounting firms of the 20th century.
It will only take about 30 seconds even for the most stupid parent in America to figure it out. Between the shots of the WTC's, the live action footage of people running and screaming in hysteria, general chaos, the dialogue, etc it shouldn't even take that long. Oh, then there will also be the disclaimer in big letters saying what the show will be about and its content. They will also show the disclaimer at the end of every commercial break, just like they do for the gory CSI shows they occassionally air.

If Leary had been President on 9/11, he would've said, "F*** YOU, OSAMA!" as he pushed the Big Red Button on live TV.
Although the brothers who filmed the documentary are French, on that day they acted more like Americans. Their film is an important historical document.

I'm not blaming the workers. I'm blaming the idiot producers that would air the raw footage without taking simple steps to cover up the expletives. You don't need foul language to depict the truth. That's a silly argument.

The "important meassage" has nothing to do with foul language.
I've seen portions of the film. There is the clear sound of bodies hitting the overhang as the guy films in the lobby...and you are worried about foul language?
They should edit out the cuss words with silence. I hope they get fined to the max. No love lost for CBS anyway.
I remember watching that. Personally I don't have a problem with CBS showing it unedited. Real is real.
But would he have had Cindy Crawford under the desk?
