Following the Election Returns [Hour by Hour Guide]
Opinion Journal ^ | November 7, 2006 | John Fund

Posted on 11/07/2006 4:41:39 AM PST by RobFromGa

This year the networks say they are guarding their exit poll results as if they were crown jewels. The results will be delivered to a "quarantine room," access to which will be granted to only two staffers from each network...

Given that the longer election night might not suit everyone's bedtime, I've prepared an hour-by-hour guide to tonight's results...

All times are Eastern. In a bow to tradition, we've listed states that went for George W. Bush two years ago in red and those that went for John Kerry in blue. The letters after state names indicate governor and senate races, with the incumbent party in the appropriate color (independents in black).

6 p.m.

Polls close in these two states at 6 p.m. local time, which means the eastern portions will end voting at 6 EST. The key races in both states will be a bevy of close House races featuring GOP incumbents.

In Indiana, three GOP House incumbents have been trailing their Democratic challengers in October polls, albeit with survey samples so small the margin of error is large. Watch Rep. Mike Sodrel in the Ninth District. If he wins, it will mean it's unlikely Republicans will face a huge Democratic wave and lose 30 seats or more. If Rep. Chris Chocola in the Second District should survive, the GOP may wind up losing 20 seats or fewer. If Rep. John Hostettler also comes home to victory in the Eighth District, there is a good chance the GOP will retain its House majority. Indiana's Senate race isn't competitive; Republican Dick Lugar will easily win a sixth term.

Kentucky has two barn burners. Republican Rep. Anne Northup has held Louisville's Third District for five terms...

FYI.

I just heard the voting machines in PA have started walking around and eating people!

I saw that here in MN but it was only this long hair maggot infest dope smoking FN type wearing an Impeach Bush button so apparently they are programed to only eat Rabid Moveon.org Leftists. Freepers should be safe. The Election Judge just game me a wink and a nod and said "nobody saw nothin' "

BTW, Karl says HI, GW says call him. Laura wants to know when you and Heather Locklear are coming by for dinner again.

Does anyone have a link or email that I can send to my fence sitting friends? Something of a humerous nature that will show the less imformed in a concise manner why they should vote Republican. I see some hilarious stuff on here. thanks

The machines are eating people? We can only know this if Dems lose, because if they win the machines must be benign. (sarcasm)

Rove's weather machine is working perfectly according to plan. Code name "OWR" (operation wet rat) and a cold steady rain is falling in southern Mich. ( good for 1-2%)

The rain is so important as it put John Engler in office in 1990. I had no idea it was raining in DTW as the Western Side of MI is not. Great news for both DeVos and Bouchard.

I just heard some guy from Vermont call into Glenn Beck..and said that he voted for "the socialist"...

When Glenn asked him why the heck he did THAT...he said "Because with the socialist I KNOW what I am getting, with a dem or GOP candidate I can't believe a word they say"...

Glenn said that perhaps this guy has hit on what this election is about..not the Iraq war...but people not believing the ones in office.

"Seems like a good turnout in Virginia."

Good turnout in my ward, but it's not the kind of ward where you want a good turnout. Webb central.

Steady cold drizzle in S. central Mi. but I hear its raining like pouring Pi$$ out of a boot in Detroit.

Dole is the NRSC chair, and blaming her is pretty lame. Every election has recruiting failures.

You've had a long time to get over it, but apparently have not yet succeeded. Perhaps if you'd put more effort into getting conservatives elected, you wouldn't be wasting so much negative energy on old news now.

Connecticut is an exception. Try that in the wrong place with the right people and you split the dem vote -- GOP wins!

I sure hope you're right. DeVos and Bouchard are superior candidates, but Michigan voters (I am one) by and large have been stupid for a few years. I hope few saw the debates with Granholm and DeVos. He doesn't come off as well as she does. She's a very good debater.

Seems like a good turnout in Virginia. Radio call ins talking about it. My voting station had a good steady stream coming in and going out.

Where's your voting station?

I say Ohio is a loss (I live hear and I don't think he's going back although I voted for him) and PA is a win (I think Rick's secret weapon is the Amish vote) otherwise I agree.

Good morning folks. Got to the polls 35 minutes after they opened. I was number 73 which means a good turnout here even though it is raining.

We had touchscreen voting machines, they growled some but I wasn't bitten a single time!

It was a lot of fun voting straight Republican.

Try again - this ultra conservative Republican lives here with all of my ultra conservative voting family - and proud of it. Take a look at the county map from 2004 - I live in the ONLY red county in the state!

Tell that to the RINOs voting for Socialist Democrat Joe Lieberman.

If I lived in CT, I'd vote for Lieberman. So I guess that makes me a RINO, too.

Every radio talk show and every cable news outlet already have Pelosi the Speaker with the Senate a toss up.

Hard to listen and even harder to watch all the negative and biased news!!

If the Dims win, so do all of our nation's ENEMIES, foreign and domestic. The Commie and the Socialist Parties of the US will be dancing in the streets along with Al Qaeda and terrorists everywhere!

A GIANT STEP BACKWARDS!!
