“So, Sharpton is going to crack down on all those rappers degrading black women and promoting violence?”

Glenn Beck asked him this question. After numerous attempts to avoid the question, he pretty much said it was the record company’s fault, not the rappers.

Don’t worry about the divisions on Free Republic.

This is the web site that chose Alan Keyes to be the nominee in 2000! They’re still smarting from that little debacle. Keyes never got into double digits nationally, as I recall.

Also, this is the forum where management and other freepers called Bush a cokehead. As you can see, their political judgment is far from sound. It’s pretty whacked at times and thankfully doesn’t represent the voting public.

They will shut down Talk Radio in the name of Free Speech..............

If and when this is done, it will not be done via boycotts. Rush, Hannity, et. al, are pretty well invulnerable from the usual gang of country clubbers, left wing educators, and race hustlers who are in the process of eliminating Don Imus. Imus is basically a liberal who is largely dependent upon his CBS and MSNBC network connections to stay alive. Like the Seinfeld actor Michael Richards, he is entirely a creature of the MSM and can be pulled down at will. The conservative talkers are dependent on hundreds of AM talk stations that depend on advertisers like car dealers and mortgage brokers whose audience of conservative white males would disappear overnight if there were a purge of conservatives from their stations.

What will do in conservative talk radio is a revival of the "Fairness Doctrine" that the LBJ Administration used to shut down 1960s era conservatives. I could easily see it reinstituted by a Democrat Congress with the blessing of a White House occupied by the likes of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, or John McCain.

I notice the biggies—Rush, etc.—are for the most part silent. All hands are reminded again where their bread is buttered, and have pulled in their horns.

They might not be using racist language, but many of them have been called racists (most recently Bill O’Reilly because of his strong anti-illegal immigration stance), and they just might try to get the off the air because of that. For the left, if you don’t think exactly like they do, you’re a bigot, racist, or guilty of hate talk.

The only problem with this “dialogue”, as Sharpton says, is that he just killed the only show that would give him the platform lol.

Exactly! Even I know that Imus' show is the ONLY one on MSNBC that brings in any money; his ratings are bigger than every other show on MSNBC combined.

And now Jesse is going to go to NBC and demand that a black guy gets that timeslot.

Yup, the fun really begins.

Rush's parody of Sharpton and Obama was hysterical. Now, they have produced one with Jackson and Sharpton, equally hilarious! Keep 'em coming, Al!

will probably be struck down by the USSC.

Thats what we all said about McCain's campaign finance reform. And don't forget that the Fairness Doctrine would have been re-enacted by congress had Reagan not vetoed the bill......

So in the interest of advancing socialism, anything is possible.....

Our side of the aisle is selling us down the river—out of cowardice, yes, but also because they think it will advance their careers. Scum.

I thought so. It’s the beginning of an assault on conservative speech. They want to suppress all conservative speech. Rush and Savage are their targets.
How about we apply the same rules to all? Then the race-hustlers would be silenced.

Maybe it’s time for the Tawana story to be re-told on a national scale to those who may not be aware of that whole scam. At the time, it was pretty much a NY story. Now that he has national recognition maybe we should re-hash the details and try to chip away at his credibility (not that he ever should have had any after that debacle).

Isn’t David Boies one of Imus’ pals?

Imus should take this thing to the mat.

I’m no fan, but free speech is for eveyone.

“Imus knows he’s a goner at CBS.”

I think you’re right, and Imus must really feel good about his ineffectual groveling before Sharpton. Hence his comment about taking his suspension ‘with dignity’, of which he has absolutely none. He’ll long regret not having gone down swinging.
