Philadelphia - A travelling exhibition on King Tutankhamun drew about 50 protesters in Philadelphia who denounced the popular display as racist.

Molefi Asante, a professor of African-American studies at Temple University, led the demonstration on Sunday outside the Franklin Institute, claiming the exhibit has no mention of Africa and that it suggests the ancient Egyptian king was white.

I had a high school history teacher spend an entire class getting the kids to question whether Egypt is really part of the Middle East.

She had no regard for the geopolitics that make it unquestionably part of the region (in terms of race, religion, economics) - she just wanted people to feel racist for not viewing Egypt as exclusively “African”.

Believe me - there is nothing on earth like a fat white Italian communist telling you what it truly means to be black. Nothing.

Yup. That’s worth protesting. Hope it rains on them, and the wind blows.

Author Martin Bernal has written 4 volumes about Black Athena and the “real” culture of classical Greece which, he maintains, had Afro-Asiatic roots. (Much disputed by classicists everywhere.)

Sounds like this Martin Bernal has an "aks" to grind.

Asante is a Marxist. Has been one for decades and he is one of the group of hardcore Leftists Temple, my school, has kept around to pollute the minds of the students.

Boy does this piss me off. No money to TU until they clean up their act.

They did one thing right, hired former Asst Attorney General John Yoo for their leftist law school. He helped write the Patriot Act and has led the fight against terrorism. Now DOJ is terrorism-lite, poor leadership and unsure of its goals.

In 1995 he was made a traditional king, Nana Okru Asante Peasah, Kyldomhene of Tafo, Akyem, Ghana. Dr. Asante has been or is presently a consultant for a dozen school districts.

Disputed because it’s garbage. It’s not a matter of who did what first but of what’s accurate.

The Greeks invented what we know of as Western civilization, the Egyptians contributed some math and geometry and religious development (the Mysteries) but I’d also point out that the Egyptians are still in Egypt. They’ve done genetic tests and have concluded that there are plenty of real Egyptians left and they always distinguished themselves from the Nubians. Egyptians were a mixed group, frankly but we know one thing—they have no connection to Bantu Black Africans.

I suggest he was probably Egyptian which is neither black nor white..

Reminds me of when I was in the seventh grade and our Spanish teacher told us Jesus was black when I asked for some evidence she could only counter 'what you think he was white?' When I answered, 'no he was most likely a semitic Jew' she weakly mentioned that Ethopia dominated the area in previous generations so he could have been black..

Interestingly, there are objects in that exhibition that do represent black Africans, and they are quite clearly black. If King Tut was black, they would have represented him as such. I would wager that the protesters have not bothered to actually see the exhibition (it’s not free, of course). Facts don’t matter to these race hustlers.

According to the drawings they made of themselves, they were White.

??????

If the colors have stayed true over the year, they seem very representative of most North African nations we see now.

She (the teacher)is right. Egypt is part of the MIDDLE WEST.
Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Eastern Idaho. Oh,...and South Beach(Florida)where that outfit little Tutsky is wearing would arouse AB-SOL-YUOOT-LEE no attention whatsoever without a little something to brighten it up.

The book, Roman Soldiers Don’t Wear Wrist Watches, features a scene from Cleopatra where through the Arch of Hadrian, the USN 7th Fleet can be seen laying at anchor.
