When I saw the headline, I actually thought they were talking about real Samaritans.
It doesn’t sound as if the Police Chief gets it though. Maybe if he would stop and consider how much easier his job would be if more people stepped up to do their duty...

Okada, the spokesman for the Salem police, warned against civilians simply taking justice into their own hands. “You don’t know whether a suspect is armed or what their mind frame is,” he said.
“One of the young male adults hurt his hand during the scuffle with Landingham, an injury photographed by police.”
Based on the picture of the perps face, I’d say that the young male adult wore out his dominant hand on it.
Of course the dumbass cop warned people against “taking justice into their own hands”.
They were rescuing a rape victem you dipshiitte! They were’nt taking “justice into their own hands”.
Although the fact that the perp resisted in his “detainment” was most gratifying! The ass whuppin’ he took was well deserved.

Not only would his job be easier, life would be more pleasant for everyone.
Cops cannot stop a crime from happening they can only document what happened after the fact. It is up to normal citizens to stop a crime from happening.
This is exactly what these young people did.
It is good to see people refusing to be victims.
Cops always say we shouldn’t take justice into our own hands. Just as a plumber says don’t fix your own plumbing, a doctor says don’t medicate your own colds, a lawyer says don’t write your own will, yada yada yada.
They just can’t handle the thought that some people might not need them.
