Frontal Assault on Freedom: FBI Raids Liberty Dollar Posted by BJT on Nov 15, 2007 Read this email closely. I just got it this morning. Those of you who consider the gold standard a quaint anachronism, pay extra close attention. If Ron Paul supporters, gold standard advocates and the Liberty Dollar were nothing but harmless kooks, why would the FBI raid their offices when no crime was ever committed? This is a currency competing with the USD, yes, but they never, but never make the claim that it is legal tender or anything other than what it is: private currency. And private currencies are numerous in the USA.

No. This raid happened because the Liberty Dollar, the second most popular currency in the country, threatens to usurp the entrenched power of the Fed’s Almighty Dollar. People can see the buying power of the greenback eroding, and they will choose something else if it is available, and the Liberty Dollar is ready and waiting. And that’s why the government must resort to force in order to protect its stranglehold on the economy.

From Liberty Dollar Headquarters: Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters:

I sincerely regret to inform you that about 8:00 this morning a dozen FBI and Secret Service agents raided the Liberty Dollar office in Evansville.

For approximately six hours they took all the gold, all the silver, all the platinum and almost two tons of Ron Paul Dollars that where just delivered last Friday. They also took all the files, all the computers and froze our bank accounts.

We have no money. We have no products. We have no records to even know what was ordered or what you are owed. We have nothing but the will to push forward and overcome this massive assault on our liberty and our right to have real money as defined by the US Constitution. We should not to be defrauded by the fake government money.

But to make matters worse, all the gold and silver that backs up the paper certificates and digital currency held in the vault at Sunshine Mint has also been confiscated. Even the dies for mint the Gold and Silver Libertys have been taken.

This in spite of the fact that Edmond C. Moy, the Director of the Mint, acknowledged in a letter to a US Senator that the paper certificates did not violate Section 486 and were not illegal. But the FBI and Services took all the paper currency too.

The possibility of such action was the reason the Liberty Dollar was designed so that the vast majority of the money was in specie form and in the people’s hands. Of the $20 million Liberty Dollars, only about a million is in paper or digital form.

I regret that if you are due an order. It may be some time until it will be filled… if ever… it now all depends on our actions.

Everyone who has an unfulfilled order or has digital or paper currency should band together for a class action suit and demand redemption. We cannot allow the government to steal our money! Please don’t let this happen!!! Many of you read the articles quoting the government and Federal Reserve officials that the Liberty Dollar was legal. You did nothing wrong. You are legally entitled to your property. Let us use this terrible act to band together and further our goal – to return America to a value based currency.

Please forward this important Alert… so everyone who possess or use the Liberty Dollar is aware of the situation.

Please click HERE to sign up for the class action lawsuit and get your property back!

If the above link does not work you can access the page by copying the following into your web browser. http://www.libertydollar.org/classaction/index.php

Thanks again for your support at this darkest time as the damn government and their dollar sinks to a new low.

I live in Ron Paul’s District, and he has been a pretty good rep. certainly better than the long history of democrats we got used to. I didnt have any complaints with him before his presidential bid. BUT (and this is a huge BUT) since he has run for the POTUS, everyone has had the chance to really learn more about him that was not public before. That guy is a kook. I appreciate most of the votes he has cast in the House of Reps, but man ... I sure liked him better before he made the Presidential Office and showed the world that he is a anti-victory libertarian kook leaning nut job. Ignorance was bliss.

It happened Wednesday morning. I live in Evansville, IN. It didn’t make the local news until I saw it on FR and tipped off the paper and TV stations.

Yeah, and I bet you check the CPI numbers every month and treat them as reliable indicators of how much it costs ot live, don't you? Just a little inflation, right? I bet you get all excited and break into yodeling "My Country 'Tis of Thee...." when you see those stirring words "backed by the full faith and confidence of the US Government."

OK... State what our government's monetary policy is on inflation in response to someone else asking me if I expect there to be no inflation and you blow a gasket. Did you forget to take your meds this morning?

You have any idea why oil is at 90 dollars a barrel, gold is right at 800 dollars an oz, and silver is just under 15 dollars an oz? How about copper at 3 bucks a pound, or platinum at 1400 dollars an oz.

Part of it has to do with supply and demand, but a big part also has to do with our government in Washington spending money like a bunch of power hungry, liberal politicians and driving up the national debt to insane levels.

It is those evil SPECULATORS, right? Driving up the costs of these materials my MANIPULATING the commoditiese markets, damn them!

Speculators effects on prices are short term and when looked at over a extended period of time have relatively little overall effect on prices.

While we are at it, why is the dollar going into the toilet against every currency traded except the Mexican peso and the Zimbabwean dollar?

I think I already covered that one. Many times on this thread in fact.

They are dumping the dollar worldwide as fast as traders can pull the trigger...

They aren't dumping the dollar, but they sure are giving us pretty clear warning that we need to change course if we don't want to see the dollar continue to slide.

All this, and the happy patriotic US sheep are convinced that someone bartering with hard currency and hard metal recipts are b-a-a-a-a-d and we should support our noble and valiant police in protecting us from people like that. "B-b-b-b-but he has an "R" in front of his name, doesn't he?"

Um... Do you realize that you are complaining about the sliding value of the dollar at the same time you are defending someone who was overtly trying to devalue it even more? Not the most rational of arguments.

Of course the name calling and the over the top drama also kind of fit in with the way you present your argument.

If you can't make a rational argument, just start with a couple facts, jump to some conclusion not supported by them and attack anyone who disagrees with you. Brilliant!

Sorry, jrooney and others,

Lawful USA has a problem; it hasn't any constitutional current. The Federal Reserve is neither Federal nor a Reserve. US Congress never had the authority to hand it's control of US "coin and currency" over to the banks but magically did it anyway.

Personally, my studies convince me that the Federal Reserve is the second largest problem in all of history. Give me the opportunity to provide loans with money that I don't even have and require that they be paid back with _actual_ wealth; if I don't own the wealth of those lands allowing me this privilege thereafter, I'd have to be pretty stupid.

I'm not a conspiracy guy, but I've always been curious why JFK died just a couple of months after he had the _nerve_ to create $2 billion in US dollars, thumbing his (our) nose, at the Federal Reserve and the monetary interest.

I brought up the fact of the M3 just to emphasize that the ONE indicator that could force them FROM THE MONEY SUPPLY to admit they are lying about inflation. This indicator would give the lie to the pronouncement that they are for "light or moderate" inflation. Of course, this is now something they choose not to report.

They aren't lying about inflation so much as using a different definition of inflation.

There are some people that insist on using a definition that inflation is only caused by changes in the money supply.

However, that is not the definition the fed or most of the public uses. They are simply referring to the general cost of buying items.

Tracking the money supply lets us know how much money the government is printing, and effects the value of the dollar, but it isn't the only factor.

They are printing it and trying to hide the evidence.....

Yes, I agree that they should be required to generate and publish the M3 index. I will even freely admit that Ron Paul is right about this.

..., and yes, my thorazine supply is cut off. I have to find a new dealer, but thank you for being patient while I do it.

LOL! Thanks, this discussion is too depressing without some humor thrown in.

It does make me kind of sad to think that attempting to hedge against the rapacious thievery of the fed is viewed as "undermining the currency" as though Liberty Coins were sneaking into the US Treasury and printing stacks of bills to inflate the money supply...., but that is just how sheep bleat, I guess.

You can hedge against the possible collapse of the dollar by buying precious metals without minting your own coins and telling everyone to quit using Federal Reserve Notes and switch to your currency. Working to undermine our war effort doesn't help their cause with a lot of people either.

I think you are mischaracterizing why people think the Liberty Dollar did something wrong.

I also suspect that the Liberty Dollar's efforts had more to do with making money off of people being disenchanted with our government. Their business plan seemed to be to exploit people's anger over the war and distrust of the government by selling them coinage that cost significantly less to mint that they were selling it for.

They were fighting government oppression, for a tidy profit margin of course.

Have a great weekend, happy pastures, and Laissez Faire.

Enjoy your weekend as well.

"Did you know that Ron Paul was against the war before he ran for President?"

No, I did not know that at all until he ran for President. It actually surprised me when I found out, I did not expect that position from him at all, I was assuming he supported the War On Terror, and supported setting up a stable democracy in the Middle East. My assumption was wrong.

I was most certainly not suggesting that “criticizing the government” merits jail time. I was saying that there are laws governing the issuance of currency, and that some of the John Paul supporters seem to be in danger of violating those laws. I am NOT a legal expert, so I don’t know if any laws have actually been violated, but to say that the official government currency is “fake currency” suggests a mindset that might be willing to violate currency laws.

Their business plan seemed to be to exploit people's anger over the war and distrust of the government by selling them coinage that cost significantly less to mint that they were selling it for.

They've been around since 1998 or so, so I tend to doubt that anger over the war was one of their founding principles.

As for selling people bullion that costs significantly less to mint than it's sold for - what do you have against capitalism? If you're serious about this, the principal target of your ire in this respect should be the US Mint, which sells five cents worth of metal for one dollar in the form of their "golden" dollars, or the Federal Reserve Banks which put out 1.2 cents worth of pretty paper priced at $100.

And yet again, I'm forced mention the $30 one-ounce silver piece that the US Mint produces...
