The only privately owned Sea Harrier vertical/short take-off and landing fighter suffered a gear collapse when making an emergency landing at the US Navy's Patuxent River test centre after experiencing a hydraulic problem.

This video footage posted by Nalls Aviation, the US owner of the ex-Royal Navy BAE Systems Sea Harrier F/A-2, shows the 11 November emergency vertical landing on the hover grid at Pax River in Maryland.

but it's not a reliable indication, I have since been told."

ah,..ah,...err, any other indicators have a habit of not giving true indications?..Yeah I guess when you can climb out of the cockpit and roll off the wing...that might be an indication it's parked kinda leanin

That’s gonna ‘ding’ his wallet a bit. BTW, anybody know the current laws/regulations concerning the private ownership of ex-military aircraft? You don’t often hear about military jets in private hands. Darned few of them.

He should try the “disabled parking” spot the next time.

This guy owns his own Harrier?

Dang... that really ups the ante for the “guys with cool toys” in the neighborhood.

As I've heard it:

When it takes full power to taxi - you just might have forgotten to put your gear down before landing.

Don’t worry, you can still top him with your own private missle base.

There’s an operational F-18 in private hands, and at least one MiG-17.

And there used to be at least one two-seat MiG-21 trainer up in New England somewhere.

I think there’s at least one F-104 flying out there too.

The other one that I know of had an engine flame-out and since no one had ever lived through an F-104 dead stick landing, the pilot thought the better part of valor and punched out...

I get the feeling that the garage doors behind that bird take a beating on spool-up, no?
