Drudge Flash: DEMS HOLD FIRE ON HUCKABEE; SEE 'EASY KILL' IN GENERAL ELECTION

DEMS HOLD FIRE ON HUCKABEE; SEE ‘EASY KILL’ IN GENERAL ELECTION
Tue Dec 11 2007 10:27:53 ET

**Exclusive**

Democrat party officials are avoiding any and all criticism of Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, insiders reveal.

The Democratic National Committee has told staffers to hold all fire, until he secures the party’s nomination.

The directive has come down from the highest levels within the party, according to a top source.

Within the DNC, Huckabee is known as the “glass jaw — and they’re just waiting to break it.”

In the last three weeks since Huckabee’s surge kicked in, the DNC hasn’t released a single press release criticizing his rising candidacy.

The last DNC press release critical of Huckabee appeared back on March 2nd.

[DNC Press Release Attack Summary:

Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) – 37% (99 press releases)
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) – 28% (74)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) – 24% (64)
Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20)
Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)]

In fact, as the story broke over the weekend that Huckabee said he wanted to isolate AIDS patients back in 1992, the DNC ignored the opportunity to slam the candidate from the left.

“He’ll easily be their McGovern, an easy kill,” mocked one senior Democrat operative Tuesday morning from Washington.

“His letting out murders because they shout ‘Jesus’, his wanting to put 300,000 AIDS patients and Magic Johnson into isolation, ain’t even scratching the surface of what we’ve got on him.”

The discipline the Democrats have shown in not engaging Huckabee has earned the praise of one former Republican Party official:

“The Democrats are doing a much better job restraining themselves than the GOP did in 2003 when Howard Dean looked like he was on the brink of winning the nomination.”

A close friend to Huckabee explains: “Look, Mike is Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare. They should be squirming.”

NR thinks everyone is digging up his sermons, great, now the MSM/DNC get to mock faith while claiming its just politics.

Enough, this is getting dangerous for us, having a debate on who is more divine, vice-free, who worships how, who believes what, who is more activist about abortions.

We are at WAR, and need a candidate who is ready to be CIC, understands the enemy, here and abroad. Can be ruthless and an SOB.

RG, DH, FT, or even McCain could fit that bill, imo.

“Fred could fill that role nicely.”

Precisely. Pretty shocking and disappointing how poorly he is doing. This would have been his moment. The next candidate to spike will be McCain IMO. Your heard it here first....or maybe second!

I am here in Iowa and many of the folks I know here are lining up behind Huck. Does anyone have a link to something I can use to warn these folks? The GOP cannot afford to nominate the Huckster. He reminds me of Professor Harold Hill

If voters want amnesty and open borders, they should vote for Rudy McRombee.

If they still want a sovereign nation to call their own, they've got two other choices.

For me it's that simple. If we don't have our sovereignty, all the rest isn't going to matter.

The Dems can say he: he's for big government! He's for higher taxes! He's for closing Gitmo! He's for lifting the Cuban embargo! He's for releasing Willie Horton! Mike Huckabee agrees with us! So vote for us in November in 2008! To them, that spells r-o-a-d k-i-l-l.

You can tell who the Dems fear based upon where they place their attacks. I’d welcome everyone to follow the link, as Drudge has laid it out.

And just who is it they fear? No surprise, it’s Mitt Romney.

“[DNC Press Release Attack Summary:

Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) – 37% (99 press releases)
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) – 28% (74)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) – 24% (64)
Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20)
Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)] “

All serious Republicans need to start lining up behind Romney if they truly want to see us secure the Presidency. He has the proven positions, the money, the look and the “gravitas” to win.

It’s funny how Giuliani often talks about being able to run a 50 state race, but Romney is actually going to be able to deliver some northern states like Michigan while still holding the south. Giuliani offers no real potential electoral vote gains, just total vote gains which don’t matter. None of the other candidates, while I like and respect them all, bring any other non-Bush states into play.

The tone of the report casts more aspersions towards the Dems than anything...they’re nothing more than salivating dogs. Nice business, politics.

Check out the FR thread “What if Huckabee’s Signature Issue is a Scam?”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1937730/posts

His apparent deception about how he lost over 100 pounds reflects poorly on his character and begs the question, what else is he lying about? Should those who bought his book get their money back?

Can be ruthless and an SOB.

I don't want a President who is EITHER. Ronald Reagan was a strong-willed, principled leader with spine and BACKBONE,,,and some would say even STUBBORN as a mule. However, he was neither ruthless or that other term.

If for some reason we would need someone like that, I want that someone to be a conservative and NOT A LIBERAL (because those two pathetic traits would NOT be limited to the WOT)!!!

Actually yes, Drudge says right in the story that Democrats told him this...by the way, they are right. Huck will get beat by 30 points in a general election.
Also, other than being pro-life, what issues is he conservative on?
