Laurel City Police have arrested an illegal alien in connection with a fatal hit & run in Laurel.
Police arrested 30-year-old Rodolfo Ramirez, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who has a valid Maryland drivers license.
Police said he confessed to be the driver who hit and killed 45-year-old Ruth Storm on November 25th. The Laurel Police chief said if Ramirez had stopped at the scene, he would not have been charged.
Storm was struck and killed in the intersection of 7th Street and Main Street around 12:50 a.m. Sunday.
ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 reporter Jay Korff spoke with Storm's family who are very upset that the driver could hit someone with their car and not stop to offer help.
Karen Storm, the victim's cousin, wants to know how an illegal alien has a valid driver's license. "How do you get a license if you are an illegal alien?"

My State of Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration link is from TODAY.
Are you beginning to see a pattern, here?
Yes but the March 2007 link points out the bill failed. BTW, if you believe MD requires proof of immigration status as this failed bill would have, post the relevent details (as I did) and a repeat of the link. I dont work at the MMVA.
Move your mouse over to the scroll bar, click and drag up until you see Post Number 17.
Click on the links to "Motor Vehicle Administration" and "Sources of Proof". They're probably in some sort of contrasting color on your browser.
Read the contents. They're rather lengthy. They also seem to contradict your sources.
I bet a million bucks he was drunk. The Capital which is the Annapolis, MD local paper publishes DUI/DWI convictions in Anne Arundel County on Thursdays. 25-30% of the names are Hispanic. Of those I bet most are illegal.
Per your link.
Foreign/Out-of-Country documents may be used as a primary/secondary source of identification if translated into English by a
Maryland District Court interpreter/translator, an MVA approved interpreter/translator, or the Embassy of the country where issued.
Translations must be on a document prepared by a court or MVA interpreter/translator or on the letterhead of the Embassy of the
country of origin, AND must contain the typed/printed name, telephone number and signature of the interpreter/translator. The
original document must accompany the English translation. See MVAs website at www.marylandmva.com/DriverServ/Apply/
foreign.htm for a list of approved court interpreters and translators.

Why the heck not? They don't have laws against vehicular manslaughter in MD?
I guess she was technically at fault

OK ... You’re an illegal alien. Show me two primary sources of identity (or one primary and two secondary) plus two two proofs of residency. Since this is a hypothetical, and you’re not really an illegal alien ... I would be convinced by a solid explanation of where an illegal alien is going to get them.
Primary source: Drivers' license from other State, or forged of the same. Matricula Consular card, or forged of the same.
Both Secondary sources can be obtained fairly easily, since there's no connection between proof of legal residency, and document validity: Utility/telephone bill, Checking/Savings account statement, Valid check, etc.
Maryland is an open door to illegal immigrants, particularly in the Communist-leaning eastern half of the State. And believe me, we here in Fairfax County are definitely suffering as a result.
Your list is a helpful (+I was always curious about the details) , now try :
1) Primary :
Foreign/Out-of-Country documents may be used as a primary/secondary source of identification if translated into English by a
Maryland District Court interpreter/translator, an MVA approved interpreter/translator, or the Embassy of the country where issued
2) Secondary Sources
Residential rental contract (apartment lease or other rental of real
property)*
The proof of residence is even more informal documents anyone would have living here.
Again no place do they check the legality of immigration status. It’s completely omitted from the list as the news articles state.
Well, I'm no lawyer, but I thought drivers in most states have to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians in an intersection? I'm not saying she didn't bear some responsibility, but that doesn't give this guy a free pass. It's not murder, but that's why there are manslaughter laws. In any case, I would think this would be the DA's call, not the police chief's.
Secondary
Utility, telephone bill or cable/satellite TV bill*
Checking or savings account statement
“The Laurel Police chief said if Ramirez had stopped at the scene, he would not have been charged.”
I noticed that too. Why wouldnt he have been charged if he remained on the scene??? Was the pedestrian at fault?
The same way you get to stay in the country if you are an illegal alien. A government run by people who put the interest of American citizens behind those of foreign governments, drug dealers, immigrant smugglers, etc.
Better look at your map again and check the election results of the EASTERN part of Maryland. Looks like the People's Republic supporters are well west of us.
No insult was intended towards the kind, Conservative people on the Other Side of the Chesapeake, of course. :)
B.
Good answers, all ... Thank you.
