Rush took a hit tonight. He really stuck his neck out.

Nonsense, Rush will always be a HUGE HIT with Huckabee (sometimes "Huckleberry") Hucksters like me. As evidenced by the callers to his last three shows. I appreciate Rush's warnings about Huckabee's weaknesses and I hope that Rush's ideological zeal will drive Huckabee to the right where he belongs.

If Huckabee is elected and fails to stick to his conservative platform, we will join Rush in ripping Huckabee and ourselves a new one for every mistake he makes.

Iron sharpens iron.

I hope Thompson beats McCain, especially after the media screwed over Thompson with that politico.com story while they campaigned for McCamnesty.

You said — “I firmly believe that evangelicals and “christian conservatives” will be (if not already) the death of this party. The founding fathers didn’t want government involved in their religious choices. I don’t want religion involved in my political choices.”

Then be prepared to die, then, I guess. The Evangelicals are not going to change their worldview, which is based upon Christianity, the main component that forms the “basis” for their lives...

Where should we have the funeral... LOL...

Star Traveler

No. Sorry I was unclear.

I meant . . . given Huckabee’s seemingly raging contradictions; flags on the play; duplicities etc.

he seems like a fraud . . . unless maybe he’s been so deeply and genuinely ‘converted’ in the last 6 months???? In which case he needs to chill out for several years vs be in the public spotlight . . .

Yet, Chuck Norris is an authentic solid, real Christian who definitely walks the talk.

And Chuck is bright enough, I’d have thought, to have checked Huckabee out thoroughly before endorsing him. He should have found out about all the inconsistencies and outrageous stands etc.

So why did Chuck endorse him. Did he NOT check him out thoroughly? Did he just trust the Christian professions and personna on the surface?

I don’t nderstand why Chuck endorsed him.

Dreadful.

imho.

“just because one man is able to fool politically uniformed evangelical Christians into voting for him”

And how is it that they are so uninformed? Why did they not do their research? Is it because they are one issue only candidates who base their vote on religious background only? Methinks it is so. And the Huckster thinks just like Rick Warren does, with lots of liberal philosophy mixed in. Those meany rich people aren’t doing enough for the poor folk of the world (although we give more to charity than any other country does). And we can’t be mean to those poor illegal aliens swarming over our border. Why, they just want our jobs after all. And we must do something about that bad, bad, caused by ourselves global warming. That’s the Huckster (and Warren) in a nutshell. Don’t care how much education some evangelicals have. If they like and back that kind of liberal thinking then they really aren’t smart in any sense of the word. They are reacting to feelings over common sense and rational thinking. Just like the Dems.

Statement from Fred Thompson Contact: Press Office, 571-730-1010; www.Fred08.com MCLEAN, Virginia, Nov. 29 /Standard Newswire/ -- Senator Fred Thompson released the following statement tonight regarding abortion: "In tonight's debate we saw once again that on abortion, Rudy Giuliani is pro-choice and Mitt Romney is multiple choice. I believe abortion should only be allowed in the instances of rape, incest and the life of the mother and penalties should be assessed against the abortion doctor and not the woman." Now contrast that with Huckabee (who is not abolitionist enough): What I accomplished as Governor proves that there is a lot more that a pro-life President can do than wait for a Supreme Court vacancy, and I will do everything I can to promote a pro-life agenda and pass pro-life legislation. If I'm saddled with a Democrat Congress, I'll veto any pro-abortion legislation they pass. I will staff all relevant positions with pro-life appointees. I will use the Bully Pulpit to change hearts and minds, to move this country from a culture of death to a culture of life. I have no desire to throw women in jail, I just want us to stop throwing babies in the garbage.

Very interesting. On the latter's part (Huck) I detect passion & comprehensiveness. On Thompson, only ho-hum exceptions.

Since Rush Limbaugh was soundly wrong with his assessment that all a POTUS can do is, as Huck described it, just wait for a Supreme Court vacancy...I'd like to see...

(A) The POTUS follow in the wake of both Reagan (1984) & Bush (2001) re: cutting off international abortion funding to the abortion industry via the Mexico City Policy...

(B) The POTUS follow in the wake of Reagan & try to stir the conscience of a nation...Reagan put forth a book during his presidency called Abortion: The Conscience of a Nation.

That’s a scary story there... A child who tortures an animal has serious problems, and most of the time those problems can be traced back to their parent(s). Very odd, and that he would try to cover it up by firing someone just point to more problems, IMO.

Of course, this is just one more reason why I wouldn’t support Huckabee, but the main reasons are his views on the issues...

Just like George Bush (all compassion, very little conservative) and Hillary Clinton, both Methodists. Hmmmm,...
