“I hope sanity prevails. A lot of people around here for a while seemed hell bent on political suicide which in today’s world is tantamount to national suicide.”

Unfortunately this is by no means prevelant here, though a number of posters are facing reality.

Sanity is quite limited on threads like this one:

McCain’s Not A Conservative, But That’s OK

We are opposed by a Legion of communists, and socialists, who are also crawling up and fighting for the top.

That could easily describe the 15-20 million illegals your guy was straining to legalize. Then there's the 10 million those first 15-20 million would sponsor green cards for, and then the 20-30 million illegals that will come waiting for the next legalization. Then there's the anchor babies. I'd say your guy just about sent us all to hell.

McCain promised to build the fence and secure the border before there was anymore talk about the immigration issue.

Seems to me that makes us 2 up to begin with and at least with McCain there will be TALK...with the witch or wiccan we’ll get what they pass through a dem controlled congress and be screaming “thank you sir may I have another!”.

Love you like a brother R, but this chess manuever has to be made strategically. No emotional moves.

You would do better to put your energies toward raising up an independent worthy of the Conservative vote, and the task at hand.

We will rue the day that we elect one such as John McCain.

He is without honor.

Bob, it would be near imposable for me to vote for McCain. There is nothing about him that I respect. It may take me up to the very day I cast my vote, to finally come around to casting my vote for him.

Be all that as it may, I could not leave our guys hanging out. What a damn mess we are left with. In the end, I will always do what’s best for our Troops. I did in my time, I will in theirs.

There are no guaranteed outcomes, but we can make sure to do all WE can, to stop the Democrats.

Conservatives aren’t turning out in numbers right now because it’s McCain and because there’s no competitive race underway on our side. When it’s McCain vs. Obama, for example, the “seven stages of grief” are behind us and the true gravity of the coming election becomes apparent, I expect conservatives will get really energized.

If we can get all out troops pointing their guns in the right direction (instead of at each other), McCain will win.

I promise.

"I'd say your guy just about sent us all to hell.

So in my scenario, you'd rather the communist reach the top and slay our troops from the top of the hill?

BTW... he's not "my guy" at all... I just fear the alternative, and will vote accordingly.

The two words REPUBLICAN PARTY are not the core of conservatism. Conservatism is the core of the Republican Party.

BUMP. a fine post.

I disagree. There are only two rides to the White House, democrat or pub. Everyone else has their thumb out.

Our troops? What about the country itself? Are our troops doing what they do so some tard like McCain can give the entire history of the country, and of our armed forces, away?

I think it's essential that conservatives continue to voice their discontent with McCain to the end.

Why? One reason: Can you say Vice-President JOE LIEBERMAN?

It's not a matter of NOT voting for the obamanation or the hildebeast. It's getting our voices heard and possibly having an impact in the selection of Veep. We need to keep that pressure up.

That being said, McCain's an old man. 72YO with a propensity for self-destructive rhetoric, and it's a long, long way to the convention. He's more than capable of tripping up. That's what the rats are counting on.

Nothing's signed or sealed yet. Why abandon your interests? I'm simply not willing to.

They can't get there without us, and they KNOW it.

And I still don't think I'm going to get around this situation:

However, if he manages to still be around by the convention, I'm seriously interested in his choice for Veep. We'll know by that decision if he's running with us or without us.

If it's without us, it doesn't matter if we vote for him or not. When pubbies run as libs, libs will still vote for libs. McCain will be finished without conservative support.

Then it is a foregone conclusion. McCain will not meet with success. I am happy to prevent him in any way I can.

I pray this is what McCain would do but he seems to be running his campaign as low keyed as Thompson now.

There is no fire in the Belly and he always talks politly of the other side, so what is going on here?

I am listening to Mark who I think is on the money and we are in a terrible place.

If you fastward about 30 mins into the talk you will hear some of the things these Marxist have done to our Constitution both Hillery and Obama are cut from the same cloth and I can’t figure out McCain because he is not speaking up!

“Our troops? What about the country itself?

That scenario I posted is construed to mean “the troops” ARE the citizens of America...

Here let me show you how I truly feel about McCain... it ain’t pretty:

I must admit that I have a visceral hatred for McCain for what he did to our MIAs, some, my comrades in arms, and their Families. He essentially sentenced those brave Soldiers, Marines, and Airmen to die horrible, lonely deaths by closing those hearings when we still had numerous sighting information. His actions were, and, are unforgivable. His berating, overbearing , negative handling of the desperate families on this issue is far beyond the pale, and, in an earlier era, he most likely would have been challenged to many duels for his lack of integrity.

What is the alternative? Not vote? Write in mickey mouse? Do we truly want the Clinton Dixie mafia back in power? Some say they would… That after four years of a Hillary! Administration, we could easily waltz back into power to repair whatever damage she had done. Balderdash! If Hillary! gains the power of the Executive Branch again, she would fill the Judicial Branch with ultra liberal judges, including our Supreme Court. There would be no judgeship, from the very top, to the smallest slot in the federal bureaucracy, that Hillary! Wouldn’t fill with anti American progressives. That’s a fact.

Hillary! In four years, would cement that bureaucracy within the bureaucracy, with lifelong appointees that could, and would be the stepping stones to her dream of a Marxist socialist society that no way resembles our American way of a Representative Republic, and there would not be a damned thing you could do about it.

If you thought Slick Willy’s destructive, demoralizing, dismantling of our Armed Forces was a good idea, just wait and see how thorough Hillary! will be in her first term, and believe it, if she gets one term, she will get another…especially after she lavishes “bread and circuses” thickly onto the less than conservative masses.

One must remember, be it Hillary! Or Obamanation, whoever it is selected by the socialists, will come on board with both Houses of Congress already in the majority, and on either one’s side in their quest to “change” America. If you thought fighting for your rights, especially the Second Amendment, was hard under a left leaning Bush, You ain’t seen nothing yet when there is no power whatsoever on your side to fight against the old oak tree of Alinsky socialism.

McCain’s views on all other issues are contrary to this Conservative’s beliefs. Be it the Second Amendment, Illegal alien amnesty, global warming, or the host of co-sponsored bills with the liberals, All make my blood boil. That is, with the exception of his view on the War, and the support of our Troops fighting that conflict.
It is for that reason alone, that I will cast my Vote for that bastard. I believe that all others that support our Troops should do the same, regardless of all other issues. We could still fight the bastard’s insane, liberal views, with the congressional republicans that survive the coming slaughter in November.

If I were advising McCain right now, I’d tell him to lay low, let the witch and wiccan tear their party apart and fundraise to build the war chest he will need later.

But that’s just me.

McCain promised to build the fence and secure the border before there was anymore talk about the immigration issue.

The fence was proposed as a two layer fence with a roadway or ditch in between.  It has now been reduced to a one layer fence that will be penetrated with ease at a number of locations.  So much for that plan.

Did you realize that every plan for fixing the border has as an integral part, a plan to vastly increase work visas to Mexican citizens?  The Mexican government and open borders advocates for over a decade have championed a plan for 'reasoned increases in immigration' from Mexico to the U.S. in order to reduce the need for illegal immigration.

What McCain understands, that you folks don't, is that even if we hermitically sealed the border, he doesn't have the slightest intent to reduce the flow.

Will our healthcare institutions still be on the verge of brankruptcy? Yes.  Will our schools still be bursting at the seems? yes.  Will our communites still have their culture being destroyed by foreign nationals? Yes.

It's comical to watch people explain that McCain is intent on securing the border, when he plans to let folks walk through checkpoints by the millions each year anyway.

Seems to me that makes us 2 up to begin with and at least with McCain there will be TALK...with the witch or wiccan we’ll get what they pass through a dem controlled congress and be screaming “thank you sir may I have another!”.

Bob, did McCain listen to us on the border?  He sure as hell didn't.  He pushed through his pipe dream with Ted Kennedy and only changed his tune after the effort was killed and he wanted to remain viable for the election.

Did John listen to us on McCain/Feingold?  No.
Did John listen to us on McCain/Kennedy?  No.
Did John listen to us on the Gang of Fourteen?  No.
Did John listen to MIA family members when they opposed his agreement to close the books on the MIAs in order to extend trade rights to Vietnam?  No.

Love you like a brother R, but this chess manuever has to be made strategically. No emotional moves.

As do I you Bob, but we're sellouts if we won't buy this sack of cow droppings?.  Good grief.

Have you even considered what it will be like when John McCain is in power reaching out to the Democarts, when neither his own party or the Democrats will object to anything he wants to do?

Who protects the nation then?  Conservatism at that point will essentially be a theory, not in practice in this nation.

When John takes office, it will have been 20 years since a Conservative that truly 'got it' led this nation.  By the end of his term people who are 34 years old won't have seen a conservative lead this nation in their whole lives (considering they were essentially politically unaware at ten years of age).

John McCain will utterly destroy our cause.  At least opposition to Clinton or Obama would exist.
