Is there a tutorial? I am most bothered by hte search functions, which I used hourly, now I’m trying to relearn.

When I try by:ender wiggin I get the threads I posted and not history, likewise for looking for post histories of other posters.

I like the look but I find I must relearn many commonly used functins by trial and error, which is slow and frustrating.

And I hate the way it defaults to Articles. I liked it when it defaulted to "Comments", er, I mean "Full Comments".

Wait a minute... I meant to say 'I liked it when FR defaulted to COMMENTS. NOT "Full Comments".

Good grief, I don't know what end is up here anymore...

I agree with wagglebee. A review of the comments on this thread indicates that the search feature is worse than before and needs to be revamped/go back to what it was.

Otherwise, as stated in my post #71 on this thread - EVERTHING else looks/works better than before.

I think it’s going to be great. It’s not a matter of fixing what isn’t broken, it’s a matter of bringing the website up to date, and making it more user friendly.

Some of us are stuck in our ways and resist change, but once we get use to the new way...it’ll be as easy as it was before, possibly even more so.

I'm too confused to even stay in this conversation.

All I know is I loved the way I could default to view forums by “comments” which meant titles and last poster only.

This seems only available now in the everything forum.

You got that right.

People are having a hard time watching the changes.

It’s better than shutting the site down for a couple of days to do them

I think it is fun!

LOL

That would be this page

http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/posts:news-forum/

News/activism clicked, then “comments” clicked

Yea, two clicks to get there

It should default to comments, maybe it will when John is finished

Yeah, it seems to me the site has changed ever few hours for the last few days. I’m figuring to just muddle through until it settles out and then re-learn what and where everything is.

What does "RSS" stand for... does anyone know?

RSS = "Really Simple Syndication"

Sounds stupid, used widely in Firefox to subscribe to live bookmarks, don't know about IE since I don't use it.

What do you think?

I'm happy so far. One of the best things about FR is it's simple. Not a lot of fancy web shit just a lot of information in the minimum amount of space. Need input!

One suggestion. Don't change too much. There are a lot of us old dogs here that have a hard time learning new tricks.

I like the changes! They will take some getting used to, but I like them.

There is one thing I hope you can take a look at. The posts in the sidebar. It would make like a lot easier if they would open in a new window automatically like they used to. I keep forgetting to right click on them.

Thank you!!

If you click on “Full” at the top of the page, you can see the person’s posts.

I question the authenticity of the proportional spacing, auto superscripting, palatino linotype font and 13 point line spacing.

Yea, I know about those. I'm talking site-wide. The theme setting following under 'My Preferences' has never worked for me. So I created a Greasemonkey script to set the colors and font I wanted. However, I will have to update it now to be compatible with the new changes.

I would be lost if they shut the site down for a few days to make the changes! I would have a FReepattack!

Will there ever be an ability to search ALL of FR by date?

As a relatively new member I would love to be able to go back and see Slick's impeachment, the 2000 and 2004 elections etc, as they were rolling out.
