Short but serious question:

So, what's it gonna be folks? Turncoat RINO or America hating Marxist?

I have never felt this way about a presidential election. Talk about being melancholy. :(

Well for sure it's gonna be one or the other!

Here in NY, I normally vote on the Conservative line, which normally cross-endorses most Republicans. I'll probably just grab the Conservative lever, which will be Row C or Row D, throw it quick, and make sure not to know who I voted for for president.

Not that it ever matters; if a Republican has a chance of winning NY it means that the Democratic candidate is fighting to break into single digits of states won.

Misery loves company. ;)

You know, there's a song titled, "Too Much Sh!t in my Purse." It's about cluttered lives I believe. To me, this election is just too cluttered all the way around.

I cannot vote for McCain, sir. You stated shortly before the election of President Bush, that the GOP was the best vehicle for advancing conservative ideals. I am not certain that is currently the case. I think that conservatism will be a dormant/semi dormant political philosophy for a little while; inhabiting the internet, talk radio, a small segment of legacy media, and a few select educational venues. We will have some elected leaders that will articulate conservative principles, but they will be in a distinct minority.

And I will stand by my prediction that we are going to see a 3 major party set-up coalesce by the 2012 - 2014 election cycles: a leftist party, a moderate party, and a conservative party.

It is good to see you back on your forum, sir.

There are two things which defeat your statements: 1.) A socialistic President along with a socialistic Congressional majority will truly fully implement the Fairness Doctrine, which will truly eventually kill of U.S. conservatism and prevent its comeback; and 2.) A socialistic President along with a socialistic Congressional majority will truly create amnesty for illegal immigrants “to the max” including legally allowing illegal immigrants the right to vote in all future U.S. elections, and this move will also successfully and eventually kill off all of U.S. conservatism and prevent its comeback in the future. Illegal immigrants who do vote will always vote in super-majorities for “far leftist” candidates at every political level throughout the U.S., and conservatives will truly not be able to match such numbers of new voters out of these illegals, eventually drowning all of U.S. conservatism in the process.

I lean Bob Barr, but am frustrated over not be able to wholeheartedly walk in the voting booth and proudly vote for the GOP nominee. If McCain wins, fine, the courts may be better off (probably not though if the dim Senate holds), but as I’ve said, he’ll probably have to do it without me. I’ll have to check into Barr’s platform more closely though.

Bob Barr also now works for the ACLU! Do you really want to vote for somebody for POTUS who is also pro-ACLU on all of the issues? Bob Barr has also become more “nutty” every year, similar to Alan Keyes, who has also become more “nutty” every year.

I’m sorry, since you clearly have no idea what I was getting at. I’m not asking anybody to “march in lockstep” with anyone. I’m asking people to exercise some political common sense. Anybody who votes in a state where their votes actually make a difference (states other than California, Massachusetts, and D.C., for example) need to realize that there are two candidates who have a chance at being elected. Fred Thompson is not one of them. What you are doing is unquestionably throwing your vote away. Of course, depending on where you live, it may not matter. If you’re in, say, Ohio, Virginia, or Florida, you’re just helping Obama.

Jim clarified his intent, as it seems that he finds McCain acceptable. This means we are in agreement on the matter. You might understand that the initial title of the thread could certainly be interpreted that he didn’t find McCain acceptable. I don’t like McCain, and I didn’t particularly like Giuliani either. I thought Romney was better than both by a good margin, and this is why I thought attacking Romney was quite counterproductive. Nonetheless, we are where we are.

You can interpret my original post any way you want. What I was first suspected was that Jim did not find McCain acceptable, which would’ve been pretty bad since there’s no other viable candidate left. That isn’t the case.

I don’t care to try to put lipstick on the McCain sow any more than anybody else. McCain is going to damage this country (cap and trade, for example) but he’s going to do less than the alternative. Much as a I dislike McCain and most of the Republican party they’re a better alternative than the socialists. I also don’t believe that if Obama is elected the Democrats will get blamed. Republicans are blamed for everything right now, and Obama could run the country straight into the ground (as he likely will with a socialist-dominated Congress) and they’ll all simply blame it on Bush. Don’t think for a second they won’t.

Fair enough.

Altho, I think you and many here may be overlooking how many socialists are in the Gop these days as well, jmo.

When the GoP bellies up, it can thank folks like McCain and his lackeys for inflicting the final wounds.

The goP (going Progre$$ive) party has an opportunity to reverse its course, but does it have the “common sense” to do so?
