Tuesday, June 24, 2008 Guest Post: Why I am for Obama By Guest Blogger Cherish Amber Stevenson:

So like John asked me to write this post about while I am voting for Obama. So why i wait for my english class to start i will. I love Obama. He's so hot.

So it all started when my sister Malcolm started dating this guy Bhodi who runs the bike co-op down by campus - he's from Texas but he's so cool he was like the first Vegan in Austin - yeah. Or something like that. He won some award for being the most Vegan person ever. Like I'm a vegan too - except when my mom like makes steaks if I'm home to do my laundry - yeah. steaks. my mom is so cool. She went to like Woodstock or saw the movie when it first came out or something.

So my sister, Malcolm, tells me she is so into Bhodi and Bhodi is all "Obama, hope Obama change" Malcolm is all "What are you talking about, dude?" and Bhodi is all "Yeah, dude, He's like God or something. Obama's like a good feeling. He makes me all tingley like Gold Bond powder on my balls." And Malcolm is all "you're a poet, Bhodi." And I'm all like "Malcolm I am totally not into politics. Like not at ALL." and she's all like "no- dude- you don't understand, Obama's not either he's like just playing the game."

So I'm like "whatever".

Then like Bhodi and Malcolm get tickets to a Obama rally and like they ask me to go and I 'm like "Duh - American Idol finals are that night." and they are all like "Mom will TIVO it, dude!" and I'm like "Right, Samantha will totally text me and tell me who won. and ruin it." and then Malcolm says "Dude there will be tons of cute guys there. like TONS."

So I'm all like okay I'll go. and I go and like everyone is so happy. and like bhodi tells me a lot of vegans are for obama - and vegans are so cool. and bikes. bikes are cool. retro and cool. so there were sooooooooooo many cute guys at the rally. i like didn't even text the whole time i was there.

then obama came on stage and i like was so happy. I totally mean it! He was talking about hope and change and some other stuff. And everyone was going OH BOM AH - like those mean guards in the Wizard of Oz who say Oh EE Oh over and over. It was so cool. Like we were in the wizard of oz, too. which is totally retro and cool at the same time. like maddona. or books!

Like I Got it - you know what i mean? I had an Obama epiphernanny - or whatever it's called. And some girl fainted and he totally got her water. and I was so happy.

So that's why I am voting for Obama.

the end. Labels: why i am voting for obama

There's a reason for everything.

Take heart. The people Obama is appealing to, largely don't vote. So, while the conversations you need to listen to are horrific, the end result will be OK.

Pretty hard to galvanize the masses, when the masses don't give a $%^%%%^.

I'm not McCain's largest fan but he's going to win this election. And Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a landslide. I'm just hoping that some other Republicans will be able to climb on his coattails.

Don’t be so sure of McCain’s success...(and yes, I will hold my nose and vote for him myself). Obama IS the Messiah to alot of sheeple. I follow entertainment news...last night was the BET (Black Entertainment Television) awards...everybody...absolutely everybody...there who was in shouting distance of the mikes did some form of Obama rant. Sean (don’t call me Diddy or Daddy anymore) Combs screamed ‘Vote Obama or Die!’ (Wild applause and whoops from the audience). There was Obama beaded eveningwear...awards received that were dedicated to ‘the first black President...’ Songs dedicated to ‘our man, Obama.’ Don’t kid yourself...they will vote...

I really resent the future of my country being decided by these kinds of folks.

There’s just no way this can be real... I just graduated from high school and that’s how the really really dumb ones talk. I didn’t know they typed like that too... wow.

The fact that Obama identifies with these people is ridiculous. BET is probably the lowest and stupidest form of entertainment out there.

It doesn’t matter what ‘we’ think of BET...what matters is how many they reach; how many register; and how many vote (and quite honestly, how many times they each vote). That’s whats scary...

Yeah, that is the scary part. I know what I think of BET doesn’t matter to the people who work there and watch it, but it’s still a sad commentary on our culture. One can only hope that these morons are too apathetic to vote. Not likely though.

Satire for sure, but not far from the mark. The stunning ignorance of his supporters combined with the hero worship aspect of it is seriously chilling.
Not to mention how obvious it is to me that these fools are desperate to wash away some media induced white guilt they have carried their entire lives.
They truly believe that if they vote for the black guy all will be right with the world. They have been told as much and they are following orders without a single thought. Especially the girls.

I've had numerous arguments with people on this board who are convinced that the "this is the year 18-30 year-olds really really will vote myth" is being played out again, and there is no cause for concern.

If you believe this, you are wrong, wrong, WRONG. Obama has registered so many voters here in Centre County, PA that Democrat registrations outnumber Republicans for the first time since the Civil War. These numbers have held even after all the Republicans who changed party affiliation to vote for Hillary are accounted for.

This is why McCain must absolutely mount an aggressive, focused campaign if he expects to win. He cannot count on Talk Radio and 527s to break out the negatives on Obama, and he cannot dip his toes in the water on core bread-and-butter issues (like the price of Gas) because our right-wing media will NOT reach the crossovers that McCain needs to persuade -- and to make up for the 8-9% of conservatives who will NOT vote for him under any circumstances. Sit back and tell yourself that the youth vote/new vote won't count and you'll be sitting back to watch Barack Obama's inauguration on January 20th.

Barack Obama is a messianic and dangerous figure who WILL turn out the crazies.

I agree with you. I think the stupid masses have fallen for the messiahbama 100%.

Just this afternoon, I was sitting at my favorite corner diner, and decided to do a little field test with the waitress. I engaged the waitress in the following conversation(she appeared to be 18-20ish, white): “are you voting in the Presidential election, and who for if you don’t mind my asking?” She replied, and this is verbatim: “no way!! Like I give a flip what some jackass is gonna do in Washington, no way man. I dont give a shit. whats that got to do with me anyhow? Its just a waste of time man.” I came back with,” so you won’t be exercising your right to vote?” she says “ uh....nooo....I dont think so, I mean like I just dont see the point ya know what I mean. OH! wait a minute! isn’t like that black guy.....whats his name....wait a sec, its like Obam or Obom......” I say helpfully, “Obama....” She claps her hands,(seriously, she claps her hands) and said” RIGHT!! that black guy is soo HOT, I mean, yeah, I totally forgot he was in this thing. So yeah, I guess I WILL vote, yeah, cuz like we have never had one before right?” I said,” had one what?” she says, “ you know, a black guy and all for Prez. thats pretty cool, I mean, its totally time right?” My food tasted pretty much like saw dust after this.

Yes, and the only way he can do this is by stepping aside, and supporting a conservative candidate. Otherwise, he stands no chance because conservatives won't vote for him.

Gold Bond powder, hmm? Does that work? (Scribbling sound as BtD adds to the grocery list...)

Forget it. McCain will not step aside. You can live in a fantasy world, cast a protest vote, sit it out, or suck it up. Conservatives will vote for McCain, that's not the issue, in fact, an overwhelming majority of conservatives will vote for him. The issue is will enough conservatives vote for him? Current internals say he is losing 8-9% of conservatives. That's like losing 6% of the Republican vote: that's too many to win.

Next time you talk to that waitress, just ask her when election day is, where her polling place is, or if she's registered yet. Might make you feel better.

If the election was tomorrow, I'd be worried. But, Obama caught lightning in a bottle early this year. The polish is already getting knocked off him. Wait for another 4-1/2 months and I think that he'll look like the lightweight he is.

I for one am waiting for McCain and Obama to debate. Get Obama off the teleprompter, and McCain will eat him up.

I'm also waiting to see what Hillary has up her sleeve for the Denver convention. She's hanging on to her delegates for some reason or other. Also...if the Dems riot in Denver, all bets are completely off.

In truth, I'm not ecstatic about McCain. It would be nice to have someone to vote FOR in an election, instead of always voting against the other guy.
