Campbell Brown is blaming Sarah Palin for accepting the vice presidential nomination, and thus putting her daughter in the media spotlight. She also questions whether or not a good mother would have made this decision. This is irresponsible journalism, to say the least -- and a further example of liberal bias which is permeating most cable news networks these days.
Following is the an excerpt:
BROWN: Yeah. I want to begin by asking, you know, what we've been discussing before you sat in the chair. Governor Palin sharing a difficult personal story today. The news her unmarried teenage daughter is pregnant. She plans to have the baby, marry the father.
BOUNDS: He learned about it during the vetting process before his selection. He did not consider it a disqualifier. Governor Palin has a long record of reforming Alaska, taking on the establishment for 13 years. she started out as a civic activist in the PTA, went to the city counsel, on to the mayor of the small town, took on big oil in the oil and gas commission in Alaska then to the governor's office. Her personal family matters never disqualified her from serving public office, serving a higher office in a cause greater than herself. That's John McCain's message. She fits it perfectly and we're happy to have her.
BROWN: Tucker, though, this obviously putting this young woman, Bristol Palin smack in the media spotlight at what's already got to be a very challenging time in her life. I mean, how do you respond to people who wonder why her mother would have subjected her to this scrutiny by accepting this high-profile position?
BOUNDS: I think Governor Palin understands these are serious times with series challenges and it's time to shake up Washington. It was the reason she was have happy to take John McCain's position. She understands we need an approach that includes the alternatives in the renewable fuels. This is an important decision. i think it's dangerous to confuse her decision to get involved and make a difference in the country with a family matter --
BROWN: I recognize that. In an ideal world, it would be private. You know, this is a presidential campaign. Nothing is private. The world is watching. and if we, you know, as much as everyone might want to give this young woman her privacy, you know that's not going to happen. And so you do risk putting her through an incredibly difficult process by accepting this job if you're her mother. You can't deny that, right?
BOUNDS: The Palin family made clear in their statement that they continue to hope this will be a private family matter. That was their intention from the very beginning. Media inquiries and attention are going to happen in the campaign. They understand that. It's important for us as we have a conversation with voters of how we can change Washington, how we can move forward and take on the challenges Americans expect of their public officials. We keep a private matter private among their family. Certainly all of us, the members of the media would expect that from Americans. that's the way we're proceeding.
“How would the Obamas handle this situation?”
Well, B. Hussein does not want his daughter to be “PUNISHED with a Baybuh!!!”
I do not know Michelle’s thoughts on the matter but she certainly has not gone out of her way to “correct” her hubby.
Yeah...
And, yet, when Bill Clinton (the commander-in-chief, not a 17 year old kid) had his penis in a 21 year old’s mouth...that was just a personal matter.
Oh, I get it.
More qualified? Possibly not. As qualified: YES.
Have you read or seen anything about her leadership of her National Guard? She's one hell of a better candidate than the obamanation. She actually knows her troops: whether in training in Alaska; on the front in SW Asia; or in the hospitals; Sarah's been there!
John Edwards' affair and baby where kept PRIVATE, Chelsea Clinton was OFF LIMITS and Al Gore's druggie son wasn't dragged through the mud, LIARS!
Sarah Cuda Palin reminds me of the young tough mother Sarah Connor in the Terminator movies.
They’re using the National Guard as one example, not the only example, and it’s used to emphasize that Obambi has not done anything even close to that. They’re also pushing the fact that she is an energy expert who strongly advocates increased oil and gas production to lower our energy costs and to ween America off our DEPENDENCY ON FOREIGN OIL AND GAS, probably one of the strongest FOREIGN POLICY AND DOMESTIC POLICY positions one can have in this day and age. And, considering the newly energized Russian bear, that position is most important.
Campbell Brown: Nothing is private.
You forgot Chelsea Clinton
To watch that at anytime takes a strong will, but you must have a steel gut to be watching that today. They must be ripping Palin apart.
The Democrats are nothing but hypocrites big time.
This isn’t an Obama vs. Palin question.
They’re both unqualified and unfit.
This is a Romney/Duncan/Thompson/nearly every other GOP politician vs. Palin question.
It shows poor judgment on McCain’s part to put her on the ticket just because he doesn’t get along with the others.
I watched part of this program — can’t really call it a newscast — until I turned it off in disgust.
Campbell was openly hostile toward anyone who defended Palin.
There will come a day when Campbell will need assurances from someone that she is a worthwhile woman, and until then, she probably will not be able to see how Palin can embrace her daughter Bristol with love and acceptance.
McCain knew about Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy. McCain knew about Palin’s son’s Downs Syndrome. And McCain also knew about the state trooper involved in the so-called “troopergate.” The trooper should have been fired on the spot for tasing his 12 year old step-son, Palin’s sister’s child.
End of story, Campbell. You need to be “Imused.”
So is Campbell Brown a sexist? It seems so, as she thinks a mother shouldn't run for office because it puts her children in the public spotlight, something a mother wouldn't do.
I notice she hasn't said that Biden should turn down the VP slot because it puts too much focus on his children's lawsuit problems.
Believe it. Every parent knows their kid could mess up big time at any moment (if they haven't already). The libs making an issue out of this, particularly by questioning Palin's parenting skills, are helping to dig Obama's grave.
Of course, the leftist voters won't sympathize, but they are so blinded by their politics, nothing Palin did or didn't do would be okay with them anyway.
Huh? Do you have any teenaged children? Apparently not, if you think you can control everything they do when they are 17. Apparently not if you think that good parents don't end up with kids who make big mistakes.
Good grief.
Why Dan Senor married this gal is beyond me?
ROFLMAO
All of a sudden, everyone on the left is acting as if they’ve never had a moment, never had a relative, never did anything that was the slightest bit skewed. Now their sanctimoniousness finds them licking their lips.
Fortunately for Palin, she has a huge support wrapping itself around her. And the libs on the left are just going to have to keep on sputtering. I think if they’re really looking for something to smack their lips on, they ought to wonder why Ted Kennedy — the man who left a young political worker to drown in the back seat of his car — a standing ovation at the convention.
If that’s the kind of people they are, and their colors come through all the time to indicate that they are double-standards, then they need to just sit down and shut up.
There are hundreds of thousands of teenage girls out there who get pregnant every year. That means that these girls have mothers who most certainly can relate and empathize with Sarah Palin. That empathy will translate into votes in November for this wonderful woman who’s being demonized by the liberal left.
So these goldfish-size brains who are on the View and the MSM ought not to throw stones from their glass fishbowls.
