Wow, Wow, a Thousand Times Wow

What did we see tonight?

Tonight, we either saw a watershed in American politics, a tour de force, the most striking and graceful debut in our nation’s political life, and a national introduction that makes Barack Obama’s 2004 convention address look like small potatoes… or we saw what we wanted to see, and the country’s persuadable independents saw something else. I’m afraid to believe. If I’m wrong, I don’t really know what Americans want. I know conservatives are thrilled to pieces, and they ought to be. She knocked it out of the park. I don’t think she could have delivered that speech any better. Even if I hadn’t suggested a line, I would say that the speech hit almost every note just right. (Did the Obama fans feel this way? Is this what their exultation feels like? Wonderful. I’m glad they get to experience it too.)

My e-mail box is thrilled. Cam's Talkbackers are thrilled — "you called down the thunder, and now ya have it."

We have a mildly autistic son. The way Mrs. Palin talked about Trig brought tears to Mrs. GBC’s eyes.

I just love her, someone who finally gets it.

Better check Chrissy Mathews to see if he has anything running down his pants...

Now THAT comment got a LOL out of me!

Governor Sarah Palin's awesome speech officially reminds me of one of the truly GREAT politicians of the 20th Century:

This is one of the best political speeches I've heard in many years.

Chris Mathews looks small and gray tonight.

He actually said “No one has denied the right of a woman to bring her baby to term”.

Like aborting is the standard and expected thing in most cases.

With a smile on her face she took Obama/Biden to the woodshed again, and again, and again.

Actually, she just took Obama to the woodshed. Biden is no longer a factor.

It's McCain v Obama and it's Palin V Obama.

Biden is just a spare dick at a wedding...

Howard Wolfson commenting on Fox afterwards looked stunned, he had nothing but praise. He said she stuck a knife in Obama and twisted it with a smile on her face. The only thing he could say was he didn’t agree with her policies but that she was going to be real trouble for the dems.

Krauthammer said she didn’t just throw red meat out, she slaughtered a small cow at the podium.

Obama has just been out phenomed. If she debates half this well, Biden is toast. Wolfson also noted Biden had better bring his A game or he’s lunch.

This was an historic night.

Sarah Palin’s speech encouraged me to post my first time on FreeRepublic. I have lurked and learned for over 4 years. I am a Reagan Conservative and the proud mother of two sons serving in our military.

My husband came up with a bumper sticker slogan that I thought was cute and worthy of mentioning.

“Obama and Joe pale in comparison to John and Sarah.”

Your assessment misses the point that she passed a major and difficult test and passed it with FLYING COLORS. Only sitting presidents — and few of them — have been able to emerge from the kind of horrific deluge of attacks that she has undergone to address a large — indeed, an international — audience with the grace, eloquence, and poise which THAT WOMAN (!) displayed tonight.

What a woman! What a candidate! And what a governor! In fact, as I considered her accomplishments in the short time she’s been governor, I couldn’t help but think that she’s already done more good in the two years she’s been governor than many — if not most — governors accomplish in one or two entire terms.

Why do I keep thinking of Wonder Woman whenever I see her? It’s more than a physical likeness!

I am afraid to believe, too. But she did a fabulous job. Very articulate. I especially enjoyed the points about selling the jet on E-Bay and her small-town background.

Rudy did well, too.

Let’s hope McCain does equally well tomorrow night. He was most gracious after Sarah’s speech.

It wasn't veiled at all. This is a woman who has never hidden her faith. And this is EXACTLY the spirit that should be in DC. They are our PUBLIC SERVANTS, not our Masters. Too many of them, especially in the Establishment Media, have shown they do NOT understand this. They work for us, not the other way around. Past time the Elistest Establishement get a swift kick in the butt. Palin is that kick.

Only one ortwo home runs I've ever seen rivalled it.

One was a home run by Eddie Murray against the Brewers -- a grand slam in the 9th inning of a 5-0 game...the ball was still rising when it hit the upper deck.

Ahh, who cares?

PALIN-THOMPSON 2012 !!!

The DUmmies actually have a little debate going on—some think she “hit it out of the park”. Others are focusing on important things like heaping scorn on her for looking like a “Catholic school girl” (sounds like fantasies getting out of hand).

The best description I have read of Sarah Palin is “political savant”.

She seems to have an unerring ability to connect to people of all backgrounds and persuasions.
