OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL [election is over?]
New York Post ^ | 09/15/08 | AMIR TAHERI

Posted on 09/15/2008 2:03:51 AM PDT by Enchante

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

“First, is this an opinion piece or is this a news piece?”

Thats what I`ve been wondering, too. It`s not in the news or opinion sections. It`s in the columnist section. If this is supposed to be a straight news story, should`nt it be in the news section?

At the very least, it’s grounds for having your passport pulled. See page 6 of your American passport.

Obama’s flipflopped so often and still maintained a certain level of support that I can only assume his followers are what so many here have said they are—religious fanatics who believe in the MAN over any of his actions or beliefs. Their motto seems to be a reversal of a Marx Brothers routine— Whatever he’s for, I’m for it.

You are exactly right. There must be corroborating evidence.

The accusation enough is damaging, even now if theres a retraction tried, theres still an enormous amount of people that wont believe him, Obama’s dangerous background quite frankly is enough to convince me he did this.

Interesting link from a few months back...seems like Barry has been playing double-speak with Zebari for quite a while:

There’s something vaguely treasonous about this.

This “decides” nothing. Very few people will ever see this, perhaps none will who are not already inclined go vote for Mc/P. MSM doesn’t see this sort of stuff as “news.”

If MSM notes it all they will claim the McC campaign is “going over the top with this one!” and will call it politically motivated lies. They will be of one voice.

The Logan Act makes it a felony and provides for a prison sentence of up to three years for any American, “without authority of the United States,” to communicate with a foreign government in an effort to influence that government’s behavior on any “disputes or controversies with the United States.”

The left, understanding that any tactic that brings power is a good ethical moral tactic will not be dissuaded of their man. It will not cause even discomfort to the Husseinites.

If it is recognized as a legal problem then it will be truly a scandal and the Repubnlicans will go into full coverup mode. The Republicans have historically been more assiduous in covering up Democrat scandals than the Democrats have.

What’s necessary now is for someone to ask the Foreign Minister if he’ll go on the record with this statement- maybe get a little more of an interview about what Obama said while in Iraq.

Unreal.
