OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL [election is over?]
New York Post ^ | 09/15/08 | AMIR TAHERI

Posted on 09/15/2008 2:03:51 AM PDT by Enchante

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

This sounds EXACTLY like what they accuse Reagan of in the Hostage Crisis, to delay their release until after the elections!

The election was in November. The hostages weren't released until January 20th.

At least 40% of the US population would vote for him no matter what unfathomable action he did. They are called idiots, or Democrats.

Pelosi, Carter, Kerry, Obama and the list goes on. Because noone enforces the Logan Act!

§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments.
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.
1 Stat. 613, January 30, 1799, codified at 18 U.S.C. § 953 (2004).

Brian Kilmeade just asked Dan Senor about this article on F&F:

Dan--There are many in the Dem foreign policy circles who would rather negotiate the status of forces agreement with a President Obama, rather than the Bush Administration. I question the appropriateness of that...

Brian--Is Taheri to be trusted?

Dan--He's a stand-up guy, an Iraqi patriot...I do trust him. I wasn't present at the meeting but I think his reporting should be noted.

Good Morning SEMom!

Can you believe this? Obama figured he could get away with this because the Democrats have been getting away with this kind of stuff since the war began. Undermining the war from within and working to sabotage our efforts abroad!

Makes you wonder what Nancy Pelosi actually discussed with Syria while there and they were supplying weapons for the terrorists in Iraq! Didn’t Kerry visit Iraq and the region shortly before the 2004 election?

This is just the tip of the iceberg folks! Our worse fears about just how far the democrats will go to secure their own power are being illuminated and exposed!

Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops

Nope. No constitutional provision for that, Sen. Obama.

An angle to be played:

In addition to the constitutional question (which the dumb middle won’t understand) Use it to get a 2-fer. Use it to highlight Obama’s inexperience. He’s never negotiated anything in his life and doesn’t understand that negotiations cannot be undertaken with two different negotiating teams working on the same side. This is absolutely fundamental, and even the less astute will get it.
