OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL [election is over?]
New York Post ^ | 09/15/08 | AMIR TAHERI

Posted on 09/15/2008 2:03:51 AM PDT by Enchante

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

Let's hope that that "interview" was conducted and printed in a foreign language newspaper and that is the source of this piece.

That would then place the foreign minister on the record elsewhere and make it more likely he would stay with the story which he presumably has not recanted up until now.

0bama impedes negotiations and troop withdrawals, and also votes against body armour and other essential equipment.

[election is over?]

The election isn't over, for Pete's sake. Do you really think this makes ANY difference to Obama's fans?

I’m not talking about Obama cultists..... I’m talking about the 60% or more of Americans who will not stand for this kind of crap if they learn about it. Whether they do learn about it is of course one big ‘IF’ but with the blogs and talk radio etc. we have every chance of getting the word out.

Disgusting...

But not the first time Obama has meddled in the affairs of a foreign country.

So, the big question is why is he interferring in Bush/Iraq withdrawal? political gain?

And, Why did Obama meddle in the presidential politics of a foreign nation - Kenya?

Why did he support Odinga after he signed the memorandum of understanding with the radical Islamicists in Kenya?

The post election violence in Kenya killed over a thousand people and displaced another three hundred thousand or more. Scores of Christian churches were burned in a wave of tribal and anti-Christian religious violence that, again, left no mosques damaged. If Obama continues to support Odinga as prime minister is he thereby accepting or condoning the postelection violence that brought Odinga to power, and a radical agenda from the left that would expand Islam in Kenya? If so, Obama is pro-Islam.

And, what does that mean for America?

Odinga strong-armed his way into the position of prime minister of Kenya after he lost the presidential election. Obama supports Odinga.

He's got absolutely no clue about the separation of the executive and legislative branches, and which one is actually the commander-in-chief.

That his suggesting the Georgia crisis be handled by the UN--and his ignorance of what Russia's position there would mean to any "solution"--wasn't a legitimacy-terminating event tells me nothing will change the minds of his core supporters, who love him for the one thing no article can change--his skin color.

This should hurt Obama with independents and anyone who thinks there is only one Commander in Chief at a time. Obama was WAY over the line, especially in trying to lobby Gen. Petraeus, to suggest a “realistic withdrawal date.”

It is important to proceed with caution, but with haste.

If Obama “denies” this, it is still out there and that is not good for him. The key here I believe is not so much to highlight this for even independents, but for the left who would be furious if this were shown to be possible. They will pretend that ‘he never said that”, but the rumblings may begin within the left. Obama has already moved more to the center and the cries for getting out today from Iraq have been quite muffled.

I hope you’re correct, but there are some stories that I don’t see penetrating the media static, and this is one of them.

Worse than Dukakis, Gore and Kerry?

Agreed.

Setting aside Clinton's obvious success, look at that lineup--Carter, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, Obama?

That's the Mount Rushmore of Pathetic right there.

Except for Britt Hume who wil raise the question over and over, “Charles, what do you think about this? Does this story effect Obama?” and
“Well, Juan, yes its only one story, but this reporter does have some credibility, doesn’t he?”

Britt is so good at this.
