ZOGBY SATURDAY: McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday poll. He is beginning to cut into Obama's lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all...

Folks, you gotta remember this — ZOGBY WAS ONE OF THE LEAST ACCURATE POLLSTERS IN 2004.

He had Kerry winning when guys like Rasmussen, IBD/TIPPS and Battleground were closer in their estimates.

Zogby had to eat crow and apologize then and promised to do better.

...but unless they want to be made a fool of (and Zogby has been made a fool before—yet called some amazing close before as well) they need to be right the weekend before election day....

Yes, because then they can always claim they were close -- as long as nobody looks a few days (or weeks) earlier.

I think Zogby has put down the Zogsauce and started calling actual voters. He knows his reputation is on the line after what happened in 2004. He really had to start showing actual results tomorrow to get to a realistic number by Tuesday as it is a 3-day tracking poll.

I don’t think he would risk his career with made up results this time around, but I could be wrong. I don’t think he will show anymore wild swings in Obama’s favor from here out. I think he will be within the MOE on election day.

What I do think he will do is take actual final results and skew it as much as he can towards Obama to still be within the MOE.

The reason why the swing was so dramatic from today’s numbers is because yesterday’s numbers were fake and today’s were real.

“Looks like the Obama infomercial didn’t get a ‘bounce’.. instead maybe a backlash.”

It was Hitlerian, could have been shot by Leni Riefenstal for Goebbls. It had to disturb a lot of people on a subliminal level, giving them the feeling they were being manipulated (because they were). The church hymn music as though this was a spiritual event for the messiah, the rising oratory that was mindnumbingly vapid, the final adulation of the mindless crowd. Cult of personality at its scariest.

”They need to hurry and get McCain up by 10%, or they will still be embarrassed on election day."

Again!?!

Well, is it:

1.) McCain is peaking at exactly the right moment;

or

2.) It’s getting down to crunch time so the pollsters are recalibrating to reflect reality and not their own pipe dreams.

??

I don’t think so. I haven’t seen people this riled up since Reagan took on old Jimmy Carter and kick he’s butt across the country. I have the same feeling. The Republican are NOT going quietly into the night.

Watch NH early. If the drive-by’s refuse to call it, we know it is good news. And, if we have good news in NH, we will be getting a lot of good news throughout the evening.

My daughter has been working for McCain (phone calls) and I would *love* for McCain to take NH and the presidency so she can feel like she helped get him elected. She's only 11 and the people at McCain headquarters love her! She loves going, too.

Neither here nor there, but Bob Brinker strikes me as a completely humorless man.

He was a Gore supporter. That's comic.

Yes, because then they can always claim they were close -- as long as nobody looks a few days (or weeks) earlier.

Pollsters have got to be tearing their hair out because the public ain't co-operating with their game

They were way off in the dem primaries and they know it and don't know how to allow for the big difference between their polls and the result

Their reputations are going to suffer big time

McCain will have truly beaten his opponent (Hussein) and the officials (the drive-bys).

The turning point was Joe the Plumber...the “run” started when that radio interview of 2001 was released....that was the moment America woke up to Obama.

I always take you seriously, wolf.

I don't know how people can miss a thread at the top of the sidebar in Breaking News (not to mention the search function).
