Electoral Math: For McCain, the Numbers Aren't Adding Up
Yahoo!/Time ^ | November 3, 2008 | MARK HALPERIN

Barring an extraordinary shock, Barack Obama will win more than 270 electoral votes on Tuesday, giving him the White House. Hours before voting starts, John McCain has no clear path to reaching that same goal. In fact, based on interviews with political strategists in both parties, election analysts and advisers to both presidential campaigns - including a detailed look at public and private polling data - an Obama victory with well over 300 electoral votes is a more likely outcome than a McCain victory. Under the Electoral College system, a candidate wins all of a state's electoral votes as long as he or she achieves a popular vote victory of any margin. Obama's commanding position results from the fact that he holds seemingly impregnable popular vote leads in twenty-four states, plus the District of Columbia, with 291 electoral votes, more than he needs to win. Obama's geographic anchors are the northeast, the mid-Atlantic, the upper industrial Midwest and the west coast, all areas that Democratic presidential candidates have dominated for several election cycles. But he is encroaching on other states as well that have recently been gone dependably Republican, including Nevada, Virginia and Colorado.

Why do you continue to post Halperine’s BS? You’re probably the only one here who hasn’t noticed a pattern...

(no offense)

“It’s meant to demoralize McCain supporters. It’s meant to make people stay at home since McCain does not stand a chance. You can’t let it get to you! Prove them wrong by voting tomorrow! Have to go to work, but stay strong! :)”

You are correct. It is meant to DEMORALIZE supporters. Get out and vote tomorrow. NO WAY, NO HOW NOBAMA!

This drastic a prediction keeps everyone at home. (Both sides: complacency on the left, despair on the right.)

I wish I were as sure as you guys, cause if I was, I'd put down a ton of dough on McCain to win at www.intrade.com where an $11 bet today will get you $100 Wednesday.

Continue? Have I posted him regularly? Good lord. I apologize that I cannot be glued to my computer for several hours a day to monitor who is posting what.

Seriously, get a grip. You do no good lashing out at people who are ON YOUR SIDE.

I just told this person I wanted some of whatever he was drinking or snorting with his 304 prediction. But, seeing yours, I have changed my mind, because your stuff has too be better than his with this 331 prediction.

Is the media INTENTIONALLY creating these types of stories, so when OBAMA LOSES, blacks will riot or scream racism....a type of civil war? I wonder....

This IS in the left's plan. If they lose the election, the destruction of property, riots, murder, mayhem, etc. after the election will allow them to preach THE STOLEN ELECTION, THE USA IS RACISTS, blab, blab, blab. That is their game plan. You can bet that a President McCain is going to have an even worse time with a dominate left congress than Bush did. The Marxists in congress will still try to push through their agenda. Then if McCain vetoes it, they will use their super 60 majority in the senate to over ride the vetoes anyway. So, either way, they are going to get what they want and crush anything positive that McCain tries too do. AS ALWAYS, it is up to the American people voting to stop this crap. But, it seems that there are way more who want free stuff, want too vote in the first black, yada, yada, yada, than want a free country.

I have talked with a lot of veterans about this, and we all agree, that THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL, that America could fight WWI, WWII or even Vietnam in todays America. Can you imagine the left's CNN reporters going ashore at Iwo Jima or Omaha Beach and reporting on all those first day deaths??? The screams of pull out now would be massive 24/7. No, America is not the America as founded, not the America that won WWI and WWII and the Cold War. No, we are the country of appeasement now. Give me mine free and too hell with freedom.

I wouldn’t go by what Rove says. If anybody has a higher mountain to climb it is BHO. It is McCain who has more options then Obama.

Think about it. Who is more likely to retain 90-95% of their party’s base? Obama or McCain. Which party’s voters are more likely to switch? The Dems or GOP. I think we know the answers to these questions.
