The presidential radio address will be getting a well-deserved upgrade once Barack Obama is sworn into office next year. His weekly radio address will also be uploaded to YouTube for all of the Internet to see, according to the Washington Post.
Obama will begin utilizing the system even before making it to the White House by recording the Democratic address today, which will be posted on his transition Web site, Change.gov Sunday via YouTube.

“Its not a bad idea. Really Bush should have stuck the thing on a website a long time ago.”
The White House web site has all of the Weekly Radio Addresses. Text, so it does discriminate against those who can’t read, but it’s still all there.
Isn’t President Bush’s radio address already available for whomever to hear whenever they want to? Isn’t it available via the White House website? Or do they only include a transcript for those who may be able to READ?
I suspect he’ll also be needing it to retract whatever crazoid thing Joe Biden said that week.
Will any “rebuttal” be zapped like other anti-Barry videos became MIA during the campaign? Does “Fairness” apply to YouTube? I think not....
I’m looking for the Obama Nation song, based on the Russian anthem. Last time I saw it was on a Glen Beck thread that I cannot now find. Help?
Wow. I went to www.whitehouse.gov and found President Bush’s radio addresses readily available to read and/or hear. Also, the WH press briefings are available to READ and/or watch. Isn’t that Obama great?
I bet Obama will send his Youtube videos of his “radio” address to the masses via email. Why not force it on everyone?????????
Or Edward Bernays. Just because Obama did it doesn’t mean we have to invoke Godwin’s Law immediately.
Besides, I predict great humor in reading the comments on these videos.
Never mind; I have it.
I’m sure the comments section will be turned off...
Wasn’t it started by Clinton to avoid the press after the Lewinsky affair?
Besides, I predict great humor in reading the comments on these videos.
-—Yes. The whole Hitler gang were laughing stocks.
That’s great. Will he do it on a hat tilted to the side? Will he be wearing an NBA throwback jersey? What a disgrace.
Why didn’t he just keep his Dish Network propaganda channel going?
Have you ever read the comments section to a youtube video? Regardless of subject they are uniformly full of bleeding idiots. Now make that a political one and it only gets worse. I didn’t say the humor was intentional.
Oh and since you didn’t get the reference, here you go,
Godwin’s Law: As an Internet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.
Thanks
Flag it! Then flag it, again!
Just a more powerful way to manipulate the masses. So very tragic and sad. He will continue to lie to our face. Wake up America. Please.
Yep. I just saw a thread over in the DUmp where they are talking about how this demonstrates “transparency.” Please. What Presidential Address to the nation, which is public by definition, is ever kept secret?
They are desperate to exalt their “Leader.” Oh, did you know Barack Obama breathes AIR? AIR?! See how incredible he is? (hurl)
Honestly I don’t know. My primary exposure to the weekly address is that about twice a year it causes a news story that I wind up reading. I’m not even 100% when it is, sometime Saturday morning I think. While I enjoy politics as a spectator sport I’m generally not that into politicians and their speeches.
I found a website that has the archive back to 1982, though I don’t know if they were weekly then. Periodic broadcast speeches I think go as far back as FDR, though I’m sure the frequency has been flexible.
