Flint mother Latrica Ryan of 10 looks to community for help - (29 year old has 10 kids)

FLINT, Michigan -- With 10 kids and no vehicle, Latrica Ryan is used to juggling.

Going to a movie or out for dinner is a like plotting a major tactical undertaking. Not that such outings happen that much.

"It would really be nice if I could take my kids where they needed to go, instead of having to find them a ride," Ryan said. "And when we do go somewhere, I have to pay four or five people (for gas) to get us all there.

"I have booster seats and car seats. It's a lot."

Ryan, is a 29-year-old single stay-at-home mother of five sons and five daughters, who range in age from 2 months to 13 years.

Some people would find your statement pretty darned offensive. The woman in the article was entitled to the same 12 years of 'free' public education I was. Because of her race, she would have been entitled to more free or reduced higher education, not to mention job opportunities. Self control has nothing to do with race or social status, IMHO.

The ridiculous names I think are a lame attempt to give these kids something. They aren’t teaching them, or providing for them, no mentoring, no leading by example, no discipline, no hope, no change. Like my former neighbor, a white redneck girl with assorted boyfriends from the ‘hood, who named her boy “Unique” (I have no clue how she actually spelled it). Silly made up non-names in an attempt to be “unique”. The other factor is that they can’t spell. The names are often lousy phonetic spellings.

I should add it doesn’t matter that the kid is mixed race, but it does emphasize that these behaviors are spreading beyond the ‘hood.

I was talking with a black woman before the election, and she said that we republicans were too dismissive of the black culture, that in their world villages really did raise children, and that the husband/wife marriage construct was a western one.

Over 70% of black babies are born to single mothers and nearly 35% of white babies are born to single mothers. It's not racist at all. I'd even refer one of my sisters to the program if one existed.
