Unfortunately, you can opt to deduct your state sales taxes OR your state income taxes, but not both. Sux for us NC’ers.

If you live in NC and make purchases from out-of-state, you’re supposed to report those purchases and pay state sales tax on them.

Right.

I admire your patriotism, but as hard as Alaska fought to be a state...it wouldn't be Alaska leaving America...America is leaving Alaska.

This liberal regime is going to do everything in its power to stifle any output from your state. The "greenies" don't like oil...you might have heard that someplace.

Don't look now, but obama is putting the "greenies" in charge of the environment...he doesn't care what they do as he won't have to abide by their silly rules.

I plead my ignorance about Alaska...never been there but I would like to go. However, from what I hear and read it appears that your big cash crop up there is oil. And your big pain the butt is environmental and governmental regulations. Sorry, but I don't see that coming to a good end for Alaska.

Meanwhile, the russkies will be snaking a line underground and sucking out all that Anwar oil.

We live in worrisome times. We are tolerating things that we would have revolted against just 20 years ago. We are turning into robots, and we have no place else to go. That's why I was speculating on the "United States of Alaska".

It’s a picture of a mural below the modern Bridge of the Gods. Still shows here, Hmmm.

Well, most of the real money is from the FedGov - over 50% of the population for a Gov’t entity of some kind or the other. The largest non-Gov't employer in the State is a single hospital, the 2nd largest, a grocry store chain.

More money moves through Alaska from 3rd party medical payments than from oil. Which not to say we don't appreciate the Greens in Calif paying out the wazoo for our AK taxes - we really appreciate that, we do.

Besides, we do have a thriving GREEN economy - if those pesky Feds would just leave the growers alone....

Dope is THE cash crop in Alaska, and like CA, accounts for much of the ‘underground’ economy.

I didn’t know that—we don’t have a state income tax here in TX.

The irony is that the states with the highest taxes are perpetually broke ..look at New York and California.

Yep;I remember when Indiana didn't even have a sales tax!

Then sometime in the late 1960s or 70s a 2% tax was imposed. In my working life it has gone from 2% to 7% which is a 250% increase in taxes!Liberals and those poor at math will try to say the tax rose 5%.
