Kroft to Obama: Are you punch-drunk (Obama jokes about "gallows humor")
Politico ^ | March 22, 2009 | Craig Gordon

Posted on 03/22/2009 4:20:01 PM PDT by RDTF

President Barack Obama said he believes the global financial system remains at risk of implosion with the failure of Citigroup or AIG, touching off “an even more destructive recession and potentially depression.”

His remarks came in a “60 Minutes” interview in which he was pressed by an incredulous Steve Kroft for laughing and chuckling several times while discussing the perilous state of the world’s economy.

“You're sitting here. And you're— you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, "I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money—” How do you deal with— I mean: explain. . .” Kroft asks at one point.

“Are you punch drunk?” Kroft says.

“No, no. There's gotta be a little gallows humor to get you through the day,” Obama says, with a laugh.

It would have taken a lot of self-restraint for me to not say something.

When you are trapped in the back seat of a friend's vehicle, you don't have many options.

Hubby is trying to set up a camping weekend with them and I'm trying to find excuses not to go! I don't want to fight with his friends, but I'm getting tired of biting my tongue.

I watched it. Awesome. Sent it to all my JewLib friends, as well as my Christian anti-semite friends.

I don't think Biden is the American hating foreign groomed Marxist that the O man is. He's a run of the mill American grown liberal...

And McCain isn't?

Or do you still think that, despite his horrendous record of amnesties, bailouts, restrictions on the Constitution, and "running across the aisle" to help those liberal Democrats whom you so despise, McCain was some sort of hero, patriot, and dare I say, conservative?

The problem with McCain and the rest of the RINOs is that they would have inflicted even more damage on the conservative movement, on the Republican brand, and on America, as a whole. McCain would have given the Democrats political cover to pass even more crap than they already have, while taking all the blame.

McCain would have bought the Republicans just a little more time, time that they would have squandered just like they squandered their immense stores of post 9-11 political capital and opportunity to deliver on their promised conservative agenda. And then, Obama, or someone just like him, would have taken the reins anyway, because electing McCain would have been about as effective at restoring the American Republic as putting a Band-Aid on its punctured, gushing jugular.

Until the Republicans are willing to live up to their responsibility to actually treat that gushing wound in the neck of Columbia, rather than enlarging it, they can stay in time out where they belong.

At least the Clinton’s were raised in America with American parents.

Both Clintoons loved America even though they are hard lefties. The false messiah and his michele my bell, both HATE AMERICA and we have seen them speak on utube saying such. Additionally the false messiah is on utube saying the Constitution is inherently flawed, and needs to be changed. OBAMA SAYS CONSTITUTION DEEP FLAW CONTINUES TODAY

I take that to mean the Congress and Judges should be changing it - and not the way specified in the Constitution. The current Congress Bill of Attainder to tax away private citizen bonuses comes to mind as a way of one little change to the constitution. It it were to end up at SCOTUS do you believe they would find it to be unconstitutional? For the first black President?

I would have a real hard time saying I wish Buba was back, but at the rate the false messiah is destroying CAPITALISM I may be coming around to that conclusion. Clintoons were liberal but they believed in CAPITALISM.

Obama is certainly good at pointing out how stupid and lacking in sound judgement many in the press corp are.

“We’re in real trouble if you ask me.”

Couldn’t agree with you more. After eight years of slandering and mocking a President of the finest character, integrity and honor, we are getting very rudely awakened to the REALITY of a clueless, ignorant “sock puppet” with national-socialistic (”nazi”) tendencies. “Ah, but he’s a Haavaahd Law man, a true intellectual, and he speaks oh SO eloquently”! To which I reply, NUTS! It’s all in the Teleprompter!;)

If things continue to get worse (and Hussien’s performance continues to implode), I would not be surprised if the dems get him out of office. I think they are getting very concerned for there own survival and future as a party; not just from the GOP but from Obama himself. One quick way is to have his BC suddenly surface. The dems would be all too happy in replacing him with Biden.

Amen. I’m so glad McCain lost. We will not survive Obama, but McCain would have destroyed the conservative movement. He lost on purpose, however. It was his assignment to lose, and he carried it out perfectly.

PS, how about all the house Republicans that voted to tax back the AIG bonuses?

Oh my gosh. You know people are starting to notice when he gets slammed on cbs!!!

I noticed the poor grammar when he said... Geithner has on his plate “a” unprecedented, instead of “an”.

What a disgrace. No wonder he won’t unseal his college records. He’s a dunce!

RE “Thanks for helping get Barack Obama elected, rabscuttle385.

Yes, rabscuttle385, if only you had repeated the brainless McCain party line that McCain was the sole republican holding off the democrat congress with his vetos , we all would have jobs, lower taxes, limited government, won the WOT. But no. You criticized him, you made fun of him, you even pointed out the things he did and said. We are doomed because of you .

Now Back to planet Earth. The MSM is going after the bleeding democrats now after only 2 months, something the McCain-bots swore would never happen (that I easily predicted) If McCain had won it would be a disaster. He would cut deals with Pelosi every day and hear about Bush/McCain economy. I never regret one day, not one minute McCain lost. Sorry, Poly, if McCain is the best you have, then it is over. BTW: Do you beleive in anything?

... Obama is actually a person who thrives on competition, and then when he beats his opponent, quickly bores of the victory and moves on to the next competitive challenge.

Just like a very immature teenager or man in his 20s who conquers and beds as many woman as he can. The thrill is in the conquest, not in the adult responsibilities of marriage, child-rearing and life-long commitment. And which part of our populace has the very worst problems with marriage, commitment and fatherhood? I'm sorry to say it, but black men. Maybe we are seeing the symptoms of what he soaked up after he became black.
