Schindler Family Attends Mass for Terri Schiavo Hosted by Ave Maria University
Life News ^ | 4/1/09 | Steven Ertelt

St. Petersburg, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The Schindler family attended a special Mass on Tuesday, which marked the fourth anniversary of the painful starvation and dehydration euthanasia death of Terri Schiavo. Ave Maria University, a Florida-based Catholic college, hosted the mass, which saw the entire Schindler family attend.

Bob and Mary Schindler, Terri's parents, joined their other children Bobby Schindler and Suzanne Vitadamo for a ceremony in Terri's honor.

As the Schindlers prayed with participants for other disabled people who face the same euthanasia concerns, they placed a picture of Terri on her wedding day on the altar and joined more than 400 people in remembering her life.

The Mass was part of the International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo that the Schindler family jointly co-sponsors with the Terri Schiavo foundation and Priests for Life.

The two organizations established this day last year to foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the disabled.

"God is using Terri to impact the world in a very special way," Bobby Schindler told the News Press.

Thomas Monaghan, founder and chancellor of Ave Maria University, told the newspaper the college was happy to help with the ceremony.

“We're very big on pro-life,” he said. “Our purpose is to fight evil and pro-life is center stage, and that’s where we want to be.”

Fr. Frank Pavone, who was with Bobby and Suzanne at Terri’s bedside as she died, recalls that painful day and the support from pro-life advocates and others.

"As we consoled Terri and prayed with her, what I felt most strongly was the presence of countless people around the world who, by their love, prayers, and tears, accompanied Terri and her family through those difficult days," he said. "I am confident that these same individuals, families, and Churches will want to observe Terri’s Day."

Did God remove His hand of support from the Bush Admin after the Schiavo decision?

Do you realize how insane that sounds? God punished us by removing Bush, whose term was up and gave us Obama as further punishment?

That's just crazy talk.

removing support is not the same as opposing

It’s the difference between getting a gift and getting nothing. One isn’t owed gifts, and doesn’t know to miss what hasn’t been given.

Not receiving a gift does not mean one begins receiving active injury.

Is God still alive?

If so, is He still active in human affairs?

If so, does He still punish?

What does He punish and how?

This is one of the most moving stories I've ever read.

Thread by me.

Baby Faith Dies at 93 Days – Doctors Had Pressured Mother to Abort

MONCTON, May 27, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Myah Walker has described the time from her daughter’s birth up until this past Saturday, May 23, as the “best 93 days of my life.” Faith Hope Walker, the baby about whom LifeSiteNews had previously reported, passed away peacefully this weekend in the arms of her mother, a 23 year-old student living in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Myah, who maintained a weblog of her daughter’s life, wrote on Saturday, “She looked up at me and opened her beautiful eyes, and I realized what was happening. I told her to go with Jesus. I told her that I loved her and that it was ok, that I would meet her in Heaven.”

Faith was born with a condition called anencephaly, in which a portion of the child’s brain fails to fully develop. With the prevalence in the medical community of eugenic abortion, the great majority of such children are not allowed to live until birth.

Myah has said that she was pressured by hospital staff to have Faith killed before birth via abortion. Doctors told her that Faith was alive only because "she was attached" to her mother and that even if she survived to birth, she would be neither able to hear nor see.

Myah, a believing Christian, was told by doctors that she could continue the pregnancy without risk, "Or, I could choose to induce early to terminate the pregnancy."

She wrote, “For some reason I had to give the doctors my decision over and over again, which was frustrating. One doctor asked, 'Can I ask why you want to continue this pregnancy?' I guess some people are baffled by unconditional love.”

When the baby was born, she was apparently able to both see and hear and suffered no health problems other than anencephaly. No medication was required in Faith’s daily care and she was able to breastfeed, although she also received nutrition through a tube. . .

Darwinism and the Nazi race Holocaust

Leading Nazis, and early 1900 influential German biologists, revealed in their writings that Darwin’s theory and publications had a major influence upon Nazi race policies. Hitler believed that the human gene pool could be improved by using selective breeding similar to how farmers breed superior cattle strains. In the formulation of their racial policies, Hitler’s government relied heavily upon Darwinism, especially the elaborations by Spencer and Haeckel. As a result, a central policy of Hitler’s administration was the development and implementation of policies designed to protect the ‘superior race’. This required at the very least preventing the ‘inferior races’ from mixing with those judged superior, in order to reduce contamination of the latter’s gene pool. The ‘superior race’ belief was based on the theory of group inequality within each species, a major presumption and requirement of Darwin’s original ‘survival of the fittest’ theory. This philosophy culminated in the ‘final solution’, the extermination of approximately six million Jews and four million other people who belonged to what German scientists judged as ‘inferior races’...

It's amazing what can be accomplished through ETHICAL medical research.

Thread by me.

Adult stem cells cure child of sickle cell anemia

Research using adult stem cells has saved the life of a Texas boy suffering from sickle cell anemia.

Dallas-area residents Joe and Darlene Davis welcomed the news of a pregnancy and later the birth of their first son. Texas Alliance for Life recorded an interview with the couple.

"I was very excited to find that I had a son -- but finding out that he had sickle cell anemia, as a nurse I knew there was going to be a lot of problems associated with that disease," Joe said.

"The child can have strokes," Darlene also noted. "It can stunt his growth and damage some organs, and the child can die at an early age -- age 15 maybe or earlier."

Stem cell therapy was the key, and when the Davises received news of a new pregnancy and the birth of another son, they were elated because stem cells from the new baby's umbilical cord could be used to help their ailing firstborn.

"[Cells from] Isaac's umbilical cord blood, adult stem cells, [were] going to save my son's life, and that adult stem cell got my son cured today. He is healed," Darlene adds. "What I'm talking about is no more sickle cell, no more running to the hospital, no more fevers, no more blood transfusion. He's a healthy child today."

Research shows adult stem cells are now being used to treat well over 70 diseases and medical conditions, while research using embryonic stem cells -- which requires killing of a human embryo -- has produced no results.

Thank you for the ping on this story. Do you know why the baby’s eyes were always covered? I read the blog and didn’t find anything on it. Were they trying to keep the head from growing large with fluid?

bdeaner has posted three excellent threads describing how Notre Dame and other Catholic colleges have been infiltrated by the left's evil agenda and abandoned Catholic teachings.

Fr. Hesburgh Took Notre Dame Off Course

Notre Dame University went ahead with both the honorary degree and the commencement speech for pro-abortion President Barack Obama despite a multiplicity of protests. Seventy Catholic bishops sharply criticized the decision, 360,000 persons signed a petition opposing the invitation, and 1,400 Notre Dame supporters even indicated their intent to cease donating a combined $14 million to the school. Many outraged Catholics have called for the resignation of Father John I. Jenkins, the school's president. They blame him for soiling the school’s supposedly unsullied commitment to Catholic beliefs. The truth, however, is that Notre Dame went off course long ago, taken there by its famous former and longtime president, Father Theodore Hesburgh. . .

Sympathy for the Devil: Obama and the University of ND

"The question, then, is how do we work through these conflicts? Is it possible for us to join hands in common effort? As citizens of a vibrant and varied democracy, how do we engage in vigorous debate? How does each of us remain firm in our principles, and fight for what we consider right, without demonizing those with just as strongly held convictions on the other side?" President Barack Obama, Commencement Address at the University (formerly) of Notre Dame.

As sad a sight as it is, having a pro-abort socialist honored at a school built to honor Our Lady, we must realize that the crime committed today is not the arrogant speech of Obama, nor even the heinous duplicity of Fr. Jenkins, the current president of ND. No. As great men recognize that they stand on the shoulders of their predecessors, we must look deeper to see that Obama and Jenkins are but the tip of the iceburg—or rather, of the Hesburgh, in this case. For the "honor" of the destruction of Our Lady's school rests squarely on the shoulders of one man, Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, the president of ND from 1952 to 1987. . .

From Orthodox to Heresy: The Secularizing of Catholic Universities

Forty years ago the major Catholic universities in the U.S. decided that the Catholic Church needed to reform her teachings, especially that of sexual morality, to conform to the times, and that they should lead that reform. In 1967, at Land O'Lakes, Wisconsin, they declared their independence from the Church, exchanged the faith of their founders for an evolutionary heresy, proclaimed themselves to be an alternate magisterium, and transferred control from their founding religious orders to secular boards of trustees. Not coincidentally, by these actions they qualified themselves for lucrative financial grants from foundations controlled by leaders of the Culture of Death.

For forty years the true nature and intent of this revolution has been disguised. As a result, generations of Catholic students and graduates have been and are being ill formed and misled in their faith, or have lost it altogether. . .

Well, Zero and his gang are satisfied that Sotomayor is every bit as committed to death as they are.

Thread by me.

White House Says Obama Comfortable With Sonia Sotomayor's Abortion Views

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- In a lengthy press conference late Thursday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs fielded more than 40 questions about where Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor stands on the issue of abortion.

Gibbs reiterated that President Barack Obama did not ask Sotomayor directly about her abortion views but talked enough about legal theory with her that he fells comfortable with her abortion stance.

"In their discussions they talked about the theory of constitutional interpretation, generally including her views on unenumerated rights and the Constitution and the theory of settled law," he said. "He left very comfortable with her interpretation of the Constitution being similar to that of his, though the bulk of the conversation was about her approach to judging."

Gibbs largely ducked questions about Sotomayor's abortion views or her position on a so-called "right to privacy" that has been used to validate abortion. He retreated to his boilerplate language saying that Obama and Sotomayor have essentially the same outlook on the Constitution.

"He felt comfortable that they shared a philosophy on that interpretation ... [of] the living document of the Constitution of the United States of America," he added. . .

One of the main opponents to Washington state's assisted suicide program has passed away.

Thread by me.

Assisted suicide foe dies of ALS

A man who was featured in ads and on TV opposing Washington state’s assisted suicide Iniative 1000 died of ALS last week.

The group True Compassion Advocates says John Peyton died at home on Thursday, the same day Linda Fleming of Sequim woman became the first person to die under the "Death with Dignity" law.

Eileen Geller, president of True Compassion Advocates, a group that was against the law, called Peyton a hero in life and in death.

“He showed us how to live with real dignity and die naturally and comfortably. He literally gave his last breaths to advocate for those at risk for assisted suicide. John Peyton demonstrates what I have seen in thousands of dying patients over 25 years working as a hospice nurse - that no one needs to die in pain or uncomfortably, and that people with life-limiting illnesses need competent, supportive care, not lethal drugs."

Voters approved the assisted suicide law in November by a nearly 60 percent vote, making Washington the second state to have a voter-approved assisted suicide law. It is based on a law adopted by Oregon voters in 1997.

The blood thirsty death mongers have a problem with that. They hate it when anyone is allowed to die naturally and comfortably. There's even one of them complaining about it on that thread.

Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: 12 Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you. 13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house.

Pro-Life Protesters Arrested on ND Campus to Return to South Bend to Face Charges

SOUTH BEND, Indiana, May 22, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Dozens of pro-life protesters arrested at the University of Notre Dame on May 17 for protesting President Obama's commencement speech will be heading back to Indiana in coming weeks from all across the country to stand trial. While Notre Dame had pro-life demonstrators summarily arrested for "criminal trespassing," witnesses say that pro-Obama demonstrators were given free roam of the campus - a fact that the pro-lifers' attorney says violated the Equal Protection clause.

~snip~ Asked whether Notre Dame had been involved in the cases, Dickson said: "the only response I got from Notre Dame was that they weren't interested in sitting down and trying to discuss these matters, that they were ... out of their hands."

While Obama addressed Notre Dame's commencement and received an honorary law degree, over 40 pro-lifers were put in jail or police custody for trespassing. Among those arrested were Norma McCorvey, the "Jane Roe" of Roe vs. Wade, Alan Keyes, and Fr. Norman Weslin, the Founder of Lambs of Christ.

"We will not be silent.
We are your bad conscience.
The White Rose will give you no rest."

As I've said before, by the death mongers' logic Hitler dressing in his finest uniform and committing suicide "died with dignity", but Jesus Christ, beaten, mocked and nailed to the Cross for our sins somehow lacked dignity.
