Tea Party Total Head Count Thread (Post Your Attendance Numbers Here)
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/15/2009 3:08:47 PM PDT by kristinn

I'm hoping to be able to ascertain an overall national figure of attendance at the tea parties today by asking Freepers to post their crowd estimates on this thread.

I'm also asking that the thread be kept to just the numbers, no photos, etc., but if you want to link back to photos in your crowd estimate that's fine.

Please give the location and number of participants.

I'll go first:

Melbourne, FL - 1000.

Nothing biased about Joe Tarr, heh?

They had some great slogans I've not seen before:

“Look at Us Obama U.R.A Great Community Organizer,”
“No pirates died when Bush was president,”
(LOL! That's untrained teenagers according to Puke Gates!)
“Be heard, not herded,”
“You’re taxing the shirt off my back,”
“We can handle a depression, not socialism,”
“Don’t use my money to kill babies,”
“Where is my earmark? I want a pony,”
“We’re plucking chickens and heating tar.”

on a NATIONAL scale it looks like OVER 500,000 people took time off from their lives.

Could it even be 600,000 people?

No wonder Obama snuck out that DHS attack on americans.

Lots of tea parties were held in small, unheard-of towns too. Could you also please include:
Carbondale IL - 50
Carterville 40
Marion - over 100
Harrisburg - over 300

This is from the Southern Illinoisan newspaper, out of Carbondale. I don’t know their exact definition of “over”, but I was at the one in Marion, and I would double that estimate to 200.

The weather was cool (low 60s) and sunny.

Cincinnati Tea Party April 15 was credited by media with 4500. About double the pledged attendance. Great coverage on Instapundit at http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/73369/

Obama plans to speak on Notre Dame campus May 17 (South Bend Indiana), an abortion and infanticide advocate at a (formerly) Catholic school. He will receive an honorary degree. He should also get an invitation to a tea party, don’t you think? I plan to be on the Notre Dame campus to protest Obama’s presence, with tea bags.

I didn't see a single FReeper sign! We circled the entire lawn, too, and with the crowds packed in the way they were, it took us two hours to make the whole circuit. We took pictures and some video the whole way around, so if I can get those pics optimized and uploaded by this afternoon, I'll post them on a new thread.

I was wearing my "FUBO" shirt and it got a lot of thumbs up.

You guys are missing West (byGod) Virginia altogether.

CHARLESTON -2000

Don't have the numbers, but there were tea parties in Beckley, Charles Town, Martinsburg, Parkersburg, Morgantown and Wheeling. I tried to find the numbers without success. Somebody?

The number for Charlotte has been placed at 3,000 now instead of 2,000. I had suspected it was higher than the number reported by the Observer, but that number was set with an hour remaining in the event, and people were filing in and out the entire time. Also, the organizer says he had 2,000 flyers and ran out of them well before he could reach everyone.

Another report: 75 in the small town of Stella, NC.

Phoenix, Arizona, at the AZ State Capitol — 5,000+ according to the Capitol State Police (this is a correction, as I estimated 3,000 last night on this thread)

“rightly-Sing” praises to America “rightly-Stand Up for our Constitution! :)

Hope you will be joining us in Orlando for the Freeper Convention! :)

If you’ll re-read the post from the beginning you’ll see that I gave up (fried, other pressing issues) after tallying across 188 posts. Yes, I missed many - feel free to continue updating the list.

Frisco, Texas .... about 200+ total on either side of the road.

Blew me away because Frisco is kind of a high rent suburb.

Also, the numbers for Hickory, NC are all over the place, but it seems to hover around 300-400.

More NC figures:
Asheboro 287
Newton 300
Rutherford 1000
Waynesville 200

Fort Mill, SC 162

Just found this thread, so here's a report from north central WV (just south of the PA line).

Morgantown WV had 350 at the noon to 1 p.m. rally, as confirmed by the local radio news station, which is generally a reliable source. Also, people were lined up to sign a petition so attendance can be verified.

The original organizer was a person whom I found on the voter roll as being registered but no party. Contributing organizers were some Republicans and some others. There was a good mixture of Republicans, Democrats, and Libertarians and probably some Independents. I asked a few people where they were from (surrounding counties plus southwest Pennsylvania for whom Morgantown was closer).

The best part was the reading out of a biography of Patrick Henry ending with this famous speech, the last line of which "Give me liberty ..." was joined in by the 350; and a "Declaration" patterned after the Declaration of Independence, written and read by a past legislator.

No disruptors except for a passing driver who shouted out some offensive comment about "just pay your taxes".

Morgantown is very liberal college town of about 30,000 base population plus 28,000 students. This crowd size was a pleasant surprise for this area of the one-party system.

"In the meantime, he's living it up on our dime, seeing the world and partying. He's even pleaded ignorance of our Tea Parties."

"In other words, we don't exist....only the rapid fulfillment of his commie mission is important."

I agree. He is like a kid with his hand in the cookie jar. He is going to take all he can get at one grab.
