Tea Party Total Head Count Thread (Post Your Attendance Numbers Here)
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/15/2009 3:08:47 PM PDT by kristinn

I'm hoping to be able to ascertain an overall national figure of attendance at the tea parties today by asking Freepers to post their crowd estimates on this thread.

I'm also asking that the thread be kept to just the numbers, no photos, etc., but if you want to link back to photos in your crowd estimate that's fine.

Please give the location and number of participants.

I'll go first:

Melbourne, FL - 1000.

CONGRATULATIONS! We are now up to ALL 50 states plus D.C., 483 cities, and can document no less than 600,000 and as many as 679,000 patriots took place in the greatest grass roots act of defiance since 1773! EVERY state in the Union protested Washington D.C.'s tax and spend scheme.

You can check to see if your tea party is listed HERE if not, post a comment on this thread citing the city, state and headcount.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Are you going to get this list to the other sites?
PJTV - Taxdayteaparty - others I’m missing?

Should be a new post - would be great if Jim Robinson could sticky this on the top and see if there are any more additions.

ie- just read Oregon paper that said there were 20 parties planned throughout the state.

I’m going to start a new thread in a bit that highlights every state has protested, and hopefully drag in the smaller venues that have yet to chime in. I’m sure there are hundreds more, all probably very small, but nonetheless important because the effort reached so deep into rural America.

Plano Texas - Not centralized, nor very organized (just like I like my government) There were 500-1000 people spread out along 3 miles of SH 289 (Preston Road)

Bismark, ND—360

Dickinson, ND—200

Harvey, ND—75

Jamestown, ND—100??

http://www.kxma.com/getArticle.asp?ArticleId=361759

Per a article:

“When was the last time 600 - 700 people (assuming at least 100 in Jamestown) came together to protest anything in North Dakota? Nobody I’ve talked to knows. So this seems unprecedented in state history. Recent state history at least.

This was a roaring success.”

I didn't see Dayton, OH, listed. Dayton Tea Party Attracts over 8,000, Largest in Ohio.

Courthouse Square can hold 4-5,000 and it was overflowing into the sidewalks and maybe the street because the police ended up shutting down Main Street on that block.

Grants Pass...(Glad I looked!)More than 500....

“Organizers of the Taxpayers’ Tea Party were expecting about a hundred people to demonstrate at the Josephine County Courthouse yesterday afternoon.[Grants Pass]

But, conservatively, the crowd was estimated at more than 500, lining both sides of Sixth Street in front of the courthouse.”

http://www.kajo.com/

So,I rechecked the Medford #’s...should be 800 in the A.m.
Don’t see anything about the later one.

“About 800 protesters rallied through downtown Medford Wednesday morning as part of a nationwide protest inspired by the Boston Tea Party.”

http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090416/NEWS/904160314
This line was interesting......these people want nothing to do with racists.

“During the speeches, the crowd booed when it was announced that white supremacists were passing out literature at the rally.”

Milaca, Minnesota.

I figured that the crowd had to have been 150 adults. Throw in the kids, and I would say 175.

Not bad for a little tiny town.

And let me tell you these people are inspired!

You have Bryan and College Station TX as the same event. There were 3. Bryan had one in Tanglewood Park, College Station at Veterans’ Park, and Texas A&M had one on Campus.

College Station alone had around 1000 attendees, which is the total you give for the combined community.

I believe Bryan had at least a few hundred more - I was at the College Station event. I believe somebody - texasyankee? from Caldwell, estimated the Bryan crowd earlier in this thread.
