Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore.
Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package).
But Romney is a NO go. And I don't care who this socialist, abortionist, homosexualist, constitution trampling bastard picks for running mate. If Romney's in I'm out!

If the GOP is to have a winning candidate in 2012, he/she has to be able to defend - articulately and with passion - free market principles.
The left thinks they’ve killed capitalism. The MSM pushes this lie. The masses don’t know what capitalism is - they just know that if it involves big banks getting trillions of dollars in bailouts, then they’re glad it’s dead.
If the left is to be pushed back, it’s going to have to be by someone who can defend free market capitalism as the only economic system consistent with human freedom. The defense is going to have to be on moral grounds. And much of what the GOP has done in past years is going to have to be repudiated.
The old guard, the McCains and Romneys and pretty much all of the congressional leadership - all of whom voted for the big banker bailout - are going to have to repudiate their votes or they’re going to have to be marginalized.
The “we had to do something” argument doesn’t cut it with me. They HAD to know better or they had no business being in their seats.
Maybe I’m wrong, but my sense is that this is the dividing line. Somebody on the right side of this issue gets my support. A candidate on the wrong side - and that includes ANYBODY who voted for or publicly supported the big banker bailout - is a no go.
By the way. I didn’t support McCain until long after Romney tucked tail and quit the race. I only supported McCain AFTER he announced Sarah Palin. And that was because I thought she would have the catbird seat after McCain’s single term.
I am entirely open to the FAIR tax concept as an alternative to what we have now: an UNFAIR tax; it is a tax on effort, on productivity, on value, and ultimately, on justice.
I'm sure on board with that.
Conservatives, if they're smart, won't take your proffered bait. It's time for them to quit looking for leaders and instead focus all their efforts on being leaders. Restarting the whole phony game that was played in '08 is the path to repeating the failures of the past.

Actually, I would have for 2008, but I probably won't in 2012. I doubt that there's anything worse for our country than four years of Obama, which I expect to be more damaging than a thermonuclear war with Russia. We could and would rebuild after a war; I doubt that we'll have what it takes to repair Obama's mess when that neosocialist has finished trashing the Constitution and our economy.
Would I let Obama stay for four more years rather than vote for Mitt? Probably. It's like the local teens used your home for an overnight party, and it's trashed, with the walls, floor, appliances, and furniture destroyed. There'll be a little more damage if they stay for a second night, maybe a couple more walls taken down, but they've already done most of the damage that can be done. If your choice is to throw them out and not repair the damage or wait another night and then fix everything they destroyed, you might be better off waiting. Similarly, I'm not willing to put a RINO in after Obama. I want someone who will dismantle as much as possible of the socialist programs and restore the Constitution. Mitt Romney is not the man for that job - he's the one to hold the line at 90% socialism and valiantly protect the last 10% of what we have.
Well, in my opinion they were all mutts, but I did think Romney was best of the litter (haven’t had any use for Fred Thompson since the Clinton era hearings). I would like to have a choice of someone like Gov. Haley Barbour, Gov. Bob Riley, or (my governor) Mark Sanford ..... we can even see how they compare with Gov. Sarah Palin. We need to clean up the mess that has been made our election system and put a stop to this idiotic crossover voting before then.

I would just like to have a politician that does not make guile a major part of their persona. I really want to see some one who has convictions, and the courage to keep them in adverse times.
The sooner her nomination is a fait accompli, the sooner all Repub. dissidents can get on board. Much rather we have self-inflicted Palin bashing now than in late 2011 or early 2012.

“Proffered bait”? Not quite sure what you were implying there, but I’m taking it as a bit of an insult.
I agree that our next candidate needs to not only be a leader, but needs to stand on conservative principles as he/she leads.
Romney has never had any support from me and it didn’t have a damn thing to do with his religion. However, after these past 101 days, I long for a rino rather than marxist bull in the china shop.
