The former president said Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank were the biggest hurdle in the hobbled Middle East peace process, saying they were "illegal and (an) obstacle to peace."
The administration of US President Barack Obama has repeatedly called on Israel to halt all settlement activity in the occupied West Bank, which is viewed as one of the key obstacles in the stalled Middle East peace process.

I’m not Jewish, so I can’t begin to understand the dynamics of the Jewish voter. I don’t understand why blacks typically hate Jews. From Jesse Jackson, to Jeremiah Wright, to Louis Farrakhan, the pattern is clear.
Jimmy Carter is notoriously anti-semitic. Obama equates the conditions in the Gaza Strip to the Holocaust, which makes no damn sense.
Yet Jews support the very people who hate them, at least in American politics. There is some sort of Stockholm Syndrome going on; I can’t think of any other explanation.
You just highlighted my puzzle exactly...none of this makes any sense at all. I’ll never understand why the Jewish vote is dependably left.

The biggest obstacle is the refusal of many Muslims and their governments to admit that Israel has a right to exist at all. As Charles Krauthammer said, as soon as this stops being an existential question and becomes a negotiation of the location of borders it will be quickly solved.
Arafat could have had 95% of what he publicly asked for, but refused even that.
KarlInOhio is exactly right! Add to his post is the fact that not only will Muslim nations NOT recognize the right of Israel to exist, they put in power terrorist organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah, etc. which support the destruction of Israel. Plus they take action to carry it out with suicide bombers and rocket launches.
Anyone, including Carter that can’t see that it is the Muslims that are the obstacle to peace are truly Anti-Semites.
